Hi! Irit here sharing a new mixed media layout I created using some great cut files from The Cut Shoppe store. Here's my finished project-
I started with one of the circles from the Crop Circles cut file and welded it with a title from the Daily Grind file.
I also created a border piece from the Happy Clouds file, but ended up using just a couple of the clouds.
My background is American Crafts heavy white cardstock, and I used my Gelli Plate and some acrylic paint to create it. I was inspired by the Just Add Color class on Big Picture Classes.
The embellishments I used are from a Felicity Jane kit, as well as Maggie Holmes Bloom collection.
I used my new-old typewriter to add journaling on a tag and added some embellishments on top. Check out the video and see how this came together!
Hi crafty Ladies! It's Flóra here and today I am sharing a new layout. This time I used The Cut ShoppePicture Perfect cut file. I love these frames so much!
I documented my niece with her flute teacher, who actually was mine, too. It's really heartwarming and nostalgic to see her doing the same thing like me. Although she is more enthusiastic, clever and diligent as I was ever in music. :-)
I wanted to use all of it so I kept the grid design like on the cut file image. I decided to use Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Shine collection for this layout. I cut out the frames with my Silhouette Cameo from colorful cardstocks what fits with the collection.
I wanted to use also patterned paper so I clustered thin strips on the bottom of the page. Then I just added stickers, chipboards and ephemeras around the frames.
I hope you like my new page. You can find this and other awesome frame cut files in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store.
Hey friends! Missy back with you today. I have a very bright and summery layout to share using the Happy Clouds and Kitschy Cursive cut files. One of the great things about cut files is they never go out of style! These have been in the store for a while now, and they are a few of my favorites.
I have really been inspired lately by my fellow Design Team member Irit Landgraf. She's a mixed media whiz, and watching her create her beautiful backgrounds made me want to do it, too. I used a few different shades of blue acrylic paints for this. I used some white gesso first, and then I used a wide flat brush to just brush the paint right onto the paper. I used a baby wipe to do a little smudging although acrylic paint dries pretty quickly and really doesn't blend. I wanted to create somewhat of a sky, and I layered some of the clouds on top of it. I even used the centers that were cut out of the outlines. I love how they turned out over the background!
I left my clouds white since they contrasted so nicely against the blue. I used the You Are Here collection from Simple Stories for this since my picture is a tropical image. This collection was perfect for it! I added lots of fun stickers, die cuts, chipboard pieces and wood veneer.
I machine stitched through a few of the clouds and added a few clear MAMBI stickers. I think I could used these clouds on almost every beach layout I make. They are so cute!
I created the word "cheers" using the Kitschy Cursive alpha. It's so fun to create words and welding them together. You can make any word you want! I combined some Studio Calico wood veneer alphas with some VERY OLD Thickers here. I don't even know how old they are, but I love the pretty pink color and fun font :)
Here's one more close up of some of the background papers and embellishments. I also added some tangled pink thread.
Here's my process video if you'd like to see how this layout came together. I hope you enjoy and find some cool ideas to try!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!
Hi everyone, Julie back with
you today sharing a layout I’ve made using the Open Letter Alpha cut file. This
is a great cut file to use for titles as you can make it really large &
back all the letters, which is how I went with it.
I started off by adding some
mixed media to the page, gesso, inks & some gold texture paste. Then I
added some layers to the top of the page adding a doily, a zip, ripped paper
& ruffles of crepe paper. The large title I backed with a selection of
patterned papers & added that below the layered papers. My photos I matted
on some tissue & patterned papers & added bits & pieces of ephemera
around & under them. I finished off the layout with a couple of strips of
paper at the bottom, some stitching & a few sequins.
Thanks for joining me today
& I’ll be back with you soon xoxo
Hello everyone! Abstract Angles is one of my most favorite cut files I have ever laid eyes on. There are so many possibilities and I can't stop staring at it. It's a work of art!
I couldn't wait to get creating with it, and I have a monochromatic layout to share with you today using the fun Abstract Angles!
To create this layout, I randomly backed triangles on the cut file. There are tons and tons of triangles many overlapping each other. I chose the ones that stood out to me and tried to space them as evenly as possible. A 6"x6" pad or scraps works great for this!
I pulled pink items from my stash and played around with them until I was happy.
I had forgotten how much I love monochromatic layouts! Creating this page has definitely inspired me to use the monochromatic technique more often, and I had fun using the Abstract Angles cut file. Thanks for joining me today!
With a coat of bright orange paint, it's pretty hard to miss. For about 8 months now, it's been taunting us, windows closed, umbrellas packed away. But when the flags start flying and the menu board makes it debut outside, the snowball stand beckons. And you know that summer is not far away. We enjoyed our first snowballs last week, but I recently scrapped a couple of photos from last summer, which feature one happy camper with his ice cold treat.
There were two great photos that I wanted to include on the page. In the first one, my son is trying to decide on a flavor. In the second, he's prepared to enjoy his concoction. The smaller second picture was cropped, mounted to a tag and strategically placed over an empty spot in the larger photo.
A patterned paper and baker's twine banner mimics the one draping the snowball stand in my photos:
Cardstock letter stickers spell out the title:
I love this cut file and can't wait to try it again: monochromatic with shades of the same color or with a riotous mix of color, with all the openings filled in or with only some of them backed by patterned paper. There are so many options, it's going to be hard to decide...kinda like choosing a snowball flavor! ;)
Hello Cut Shoppe friends! Candace here with you today to share a super fun and bright layout I created using the NSD free cut file. This is such a fun and versatile cut file! If you missed it you can check it out here.
I have had a stash of goodies from Studio Calico on my table for months that I have wanted to use. To be honest I have been a little nervous to step out of my comfort zone and create such a bright and colorful layout. My style tends to lean more toward the simple when it comes to creating layouts but I have really wanted to use up these supplies. I decided to match the fun colors with the bottom left fun cut file. Here is a look at the final layout.
The bottom half of the layout is all fringed crepe paper, how fun is that?! I layered the white cut file over the card stock to give the eye somewhere to rest on the busy layout. Though I really went outside my comfort zone I like the final result!
After you download this fun free cut file head over to the shop here and check out all the awesome store goodies including the new digital scrapbooking collection here, and the brand new cut files released last week here.
Hello and Happy Sunday! It's Jennifer here to share a layout I created using another one of The Cut Shoppe's fabulous background cut files! New to the shop is Abstract Angles which includes both 8.5x11 and 12x12 versions! For my page, I used the 12x12 size which I cut from white card stock.
For my title, I used the Open Letter Alpha set (which is one of my favorites) as well as foam letter stickers from my stash.
I adhered different patterns from the collection I used to place in random slots of the cut file! I love how it turned out! To accent, I layered pieces of die cuts as well as chipboard stickers under my photo.
Thank you for stopping by today! Be sure to link up your own layout using one of The Cut Shoppe cut files for a chance to win a gift card to the shop! Have a great day!
Hello! Michelle here with you today to share a new layout featuring the Daily Grind cut file set from The Cut Shoppe.
Most of the time when I am using a title cut from my Silhouette, I like to adhere it with pop dots. My reason for this is that since I almost always cut the titles from patterned paper, the added dimension provided by the pop dots helps to create more definition which makes my title easier to read. This time though, I tried something different. Instead of using pop dots on each word, I only did one word and slightly layered it over the second word. This is what it looks like:
I really liked the difference between the two words and thought that it added a nice bit of interest. It also placed a little more emphasis on the "these," which quite acurately reflect my thought regarding this particular picture and time. Time is moving at lightening speed with this guy and boy am I soaking in "these" last few years with him at home.
Here's a look at the completed project:
Next time you are working with a title or phrase, try varying the dimension and see what you can come up with. I can imagine all sorts of possibilities!
