I began with a quick and simple mixed media background using Dr. Ph Martin's watercolor ink and lots and lots of water. I lay down the ink starting with the lightest color first, then spray water heavily onto the paper, and swirl the paper around so the color travels around the page. Then I use a paper towel to pick up the excess and allow the paper to dry. I also splattered some of the colors around the page using a really textured brush.
I cut my cut file using a navy card stock from my stash, mainly to help it pop against the background. The Pinkfresh Studio Everyday Musings collection had some lovely patterned papers that I used to back the cut file with. I chose blue for the flip flops, blue and orange for the umbrella, and pink for the beach ball. All colors found in my background.
Taking more color cues from my background and now the cut file, I added my title using the multi-colored alphabet from Everyday Musings as well. I love using one element on the page to set the colors for the layout, and then repeating those colors over and over again on the page.
Of course I also wanted to use some embellishments, so I chose some die cuts to tuck around the cut file. I used some of the floral die cuts along with word strips and puffy heart stickers, because every layout needs puffy heart stickers. I also used one of the heart layered embellishments tucked behind the photo.
My journaling is along the right hand side and is a love letter to both girls. They are a true gift to each other and I hope they always have lots of opportunities to share wonderful memories together! I especially love being inspired to document these memories with such fun products. This cut file was the perfect addition!
Thank you so much for joining me today! It is so much fun to share these layouts with you and I hope you are inspired. Have you purchased this cut file yet? We would love to see how you have used it, so be sure to share and tag us so we can see! I will see you here again real soon!
