Happy Moments

Hello everyone! Abstract Angles is one of my most favorite cut files I have ever laid eyes on. There are so many possibilities and I can't stop staring at it. It's a work of art!

I couldn't wait to get creating with it, and I have a monochromatic layout to share with you today using the fun Abstract Angles!

To create this layout, I randomly backed triangles on the cut file. There are tons and tons of triangles many overlapping each other. I chose the ones that stood out to me and tried to space them as evenly as possible. A 6"x6" pad or scraps works great for this!

I pulled pink items from my stash and played around with them until I was happy. 

I had forgotten how much I love monochromatic layouts! Creating this page has definitely inspired me to use the monochromatic technique more often, and I had fun using the Abstract Angles cut file. Thanks for joining me today!

Ice Cold Snowballs

With a coat of bright orange paint, it's pretty hard to miss. For about 8 months now, it's been taunting us, windows closed, umbrellas packed away. But when the flags start flying and the menu board makes it debut outside, the snowball stand beckons. And you know that summer is not far away. We enjoyed our first snowballs last week, but I recently scrapped a couple of photos from last summer, which feature one happy camper with his ice cold treat.

I used the Abstract Angles cut file from The Cut Shoppe Etsy store and lots of paper scraps to create my fun and colorful background:

There were two great photos that I wanted to include on the page. In the first one, my son is trying to decide on a flavor.  In the second, he's prepared to enjoy his concoction. The smaller second picture was cropped, mounted to a tag and strategically placed over an empty spot in the larger photo. 

A patterned paper and baker's twine banner mimics the one draping the snowball stand in my photos:

Cardstock letter stickers spell out the title:

I love this cut file and can't wait to try it again: monochromatic with shades of the same color or with a riotous mix of color, with all the openings filled in or with only some of them backed by patterned paper. There are so many options, it's going to be hard to decide...kinda like choosing a snowball flavor! ;)

The Cut Shoppe's fabulous background cut files!  New to the shop is Abstract Angles which includes both 8.5x11 and 12x12 versions! For my page, I used the 12x12 size which I cut from white card stock. 

For my title, I used the Open Letter Alpha set (which is one of my favorites) as well as foam letter stickers from my stash. 

I adhered different patterns from the collection I used to place in random slots of the cut file! I love how it turned out! To accent, I layered pieces of die cuts as well as chipboard stickers under my photo.

Happy Faces

I have a thing for geometric background cut files, and this week we've got the new Abstract Angles background in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store!  I wanted to cut the 12x12 size and back it with patterned papers...but sometimes my ideas outweigh my time restraints!

So, instead of backing each of the open spaces of the cut file with patterned paper, I cut four strips from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection by Paige Evans at 3x12.  Then I adhered each of the patterned paper strips to a piece of cardstock to create my background.  This technique still allowed me to "back" the cut file with a mix of patterned papers, but without taking so much time to paper piece each of the open spaces. 

And I decided while I was at it, I might as well take my patterned paper use up a notch and layer several more patterns behind my photo from the 6x6 paper pad.  I cut various sizes of the papers and then offset each one of them, as layers behind my photo.  I added the paper layers and photo to the center of the layout, and then clustered my title and embellishments around it.

And I did use a few embellishments to fill in some of the open spaces of the Abstract Angles cut file, just to balance out the layout design.  A few of the Fancy Free buttons, puffy stickers, and chipboard did the trick!
