Hooray, It's a Snow Day!

I used the Paper Camellia January kit, and the snowflakes and title are from the free cut file set called Let It Snow. Here are some closeups.

New Year's Eve

For a few years now, we have had a sleep over with some friends of ours on New Year's Eve.  We bowl early in the evening then head back to or house for food, games and a cold drink.  Party hats are a must!

I used the Squared Away 8.5 x 11 background cut file  I removed the hearts and inserted the burst from the Hero Up cut file.  This was more appropriate for the New Year's celebration.

Guest Designer | Kim Watson

I can't say how excited I am to welcome our January Guest Designer Kim Watson!  I have been a huge fan of Kim's work, since I first started scrapbooking, and discovered her work in Creating Keepsakes magazine.  I looked forward to each monthly issue, to see what she had created!  Kim's designs and use of bright colors and cut files are always eye-catching, and I know you will love what she created for us today!  Let's get to know a little more about Kim!

Hi crafty friends!

My name is Kim Watson, and I live on a mountainside with my family, in a beautiful seaside suburb just outside of Cape Town, South Africa. I am married to my best friend who is ever patient with my need to mess with paper and glue, as well as have a camera present whenever possible. My cute kids, both human & furry and my life next to the ocean, give me an endless source of content for my pages. I have been working with Fancy Pants Designs for 4 years as well as many other manufacturers in the scrapbooking industry over the years, including 5 years as a Dream Team member for Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine. I love more than anything knowing that the time and love I have put into my pages will help my children remember how good their childhoods are and that even the ‘not so good times’ leave us with lessons learnt and wisdom gained.

I am excited to be guesting for the Cut Shoppe today! In all honesty I had difficulty choosing cut files to work with because....they are so darn cute! Although I couldn't resist the 'Funky Florals', they really 'spoke to me' & I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Teamed with 'Freeze Frames' & 'Word Art', I knew I had a winning combination!

Supplies: Digital Cut files: The Cut Shoppe, Patterned papers, Resin Flowers, Stickers, Tags, Brag Card: Fancy Pants Designs; Wood Veneer, Glitter Tape: Studio Calico; Ink: Heidi Swapp; Adhesive: Thermoweb; Cutting Machine: Silhouette Cameo

Washing over the cut item with ink is a fast way to add color.

Add patterned paper under a few of the cut items for interest.

Collage them, pile them together & create a custom designed bouquet of pretty flowers & butterflies.

Layer your cut items with patterned paper, photos & accents, adding pockets of interest to your layout.

A bright wash of color underneath your cut elements is a fabulous way to make them pop & brightens up your page!

Using the Silhouette Designer software, I regrouped the title to one side on the 'Freeze Frame'  making sure it wasn't obscured once the photo was added. 

Stamps are a great way to add extra pizzaz to any die-cut title.

The Best Year Ever!

Happy NEW Year!

Hi it's Cara and I hope you had a wonderful 2014 and my wish for you is that 2015 be the most fantastic year you've ever had!

I always get really jazzed up around the new year, because I'm a planner and I love the hope and potential of the blank slate.  That's what this layout is all about.

When I first saw these Happy Little Clouds I knew that I would use them over and over and so this is my first layout with them but definitely not my last.

The layout was actually inspired by the best year ever cut file in the Happy New Year set :D

New Year's Eve

Hello everyone, it's Danielle here with you today! First of all I want to wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope all your wishes may come true.

Yesterday some awesome new cut files have been added to the store and I just had to make a layout with the Happy New Year set. I still had some pictures of New Year's Eve in Epcot, Disney World from a couple of years ago and the New Year's Eve cut file was perfect to be my title. All papers and embellishments are from the Elle's Studio Sycamore Lane collection.

2014

Welcome to 2015!  We are excited and looking forward to a New Year, here at The Cut Shoppe!  But before we get full swing into the new year, it's always fun to take a look back on the previous year.  I like to do this by creating a Year in Review layout at the end of each year.  And we've got a perfect new Cut File in The Cut Shoppe today that you can use to make a quick and easy Year in Review page!

I cut the Squared Away 12x12 background cut file on White cardstock and then used several different patterned papers from the Shimelle collection to back each square.  I wanted to keep all of the photos Black & White, so there wouldn't be a lot of clashing colors in the photos.  I kept the embellishments simple, and just added a few Wood Veneers, Thickers and enamel dots.

Year in Review layouts are always fun to add to your albums!  If you're looking to create one for this year, then make sure you check out the Squared Away background cut file in The Cut Shoppe.  It's available in 8.5x11 and 12x12 sizes!  You'll also find these new cut file sets in the Shop today:
