Cute

Hello friends! I'm back today with a new layout featuring the Alphabet Soup cut file. This is a picture of my youngest daughter on her first day of preschool. She was so excited and so ready to go. She had been wanting to wear that skirt for days and, finally, she got to.

The Cute Girl collection by Crate Paper has the perfect colors and embellishments to document this milestone. The striped paper that I backed up the cut file with makes this page bright and happy.

I raised the cut file with some foam dots to give it more dimension, and stitched the inside of the letters for added texture. A few ephemera pieces completed the layout.

This layout came together pretty quickly. Don't forget to check out The Cut Shoppe Etsy store for this cut file and many more amazing ones.

Thank you for stopping by.

Have a great day!

Happy Today!

Hey everyone! It's Monique today sharing another layout for The Cut Shoppe!! Every time I start a page I've got the hardest time choosing which cut file to choose. For this layout I chose the awesome Strings Attached cut file and a little bit of the Funky Florals cut file.

The photos were taken with my little yellow Instax mini camera and were lying on my desk waiting to be scrapped for the past 7 months. Tulips are my favorite flowers and so I thought this Strings Attached cut file was just perfect for these photos. The flowers and leaves from the Funky Florals cut file formed the perfect finishing touch. The papers, die-cuts and wood veneer are from Jillibean Soup's Healthy Hello collection.

This is the second layout I created with the Strings Attached cut file and both pages are totally different. This cut file is just so versatile! I love it and will use it again for sure. If you want to have a look at the other layout I created just hop over to my gallery.

For now, thank you so much for stopping by our blog today and don't forget to hop over to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store to have a look at all the amazing cut files Ashley designed!

Life Together

Hello friends!! Kelly here and I'm back with a layout using the Spinwheels Cut File. Background cut files are some of my favorites because they are so versatile!

I started by slicing out an individual "spinwheel" image in Cricut Design Space. I then welded multiple sizes of the "spinwheels" together to create this diagonal design. I backed the cut file with a pattern paper from the Amy Tangerine Better Together Collection. I also added hand stitching using white embroidery floss to help highlight the cut file.

I placed my photos in the upper left and lower right hand corners framing the cut file. I placed multiple cluster arrangements around the photos including products from Shimelle, Maggie Holmes, Amy Tangerine rub-ons, and Jillibean Soup sequins.

I've also put together a video showing the process of how this layout came together! I also have included a quick Design Space Tutorial.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and remember to head over to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store to check out all of the amazing designs that are available!!

Wild Things

Good Morning, Wendy here today with a super fun layout (and a little busy for me) using some new Crate Paper and Hul-La-Ba-Zoo cut file which I challenged myself to use.  What a great cut file, I'm dreaming of doing some string art with these cut files next!

This cut file was the perfect choice to document our day at Animal Kingdom here in FL.

Some fun splashes of color using the puffy stickers from Crate Paper and using the black plus signs to carry the black sketchy look down the page.

With the black title I decided to let the giraffe go "naked" and bring in a splash of red to the page.

Thanks for joining me today, I hope you have been inspired to go play with some cut files and see what story you can tell!  Here is a link to the Cut Shoppe Etsy where all the amazing files are located!

Hey Love

Hello friends! Today I have a new layout to share with you using the Heart to Heart cut file. It was just perfect to do some hand stitching!

To create this layout, I used the sketch pen option in my Silhouette Cameo. Once I had the design drawn out, I added stitching holes. I tried to estimate about where my photos would be so I wouldn't have to stitch underneath them. Stitching takes long enough without having to do an area that will be covered up! I was inspired by the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection, and used threads that coordinated with the colors in the patterned papers. I alternated the colors, making sure to space them out when possible.

Once I had it stitched, I added watercolor. I found that the stitching helped me stay in the lines. With the lighter colors (yellow specifically), I found it better to paint first, and then stitch. The paint was darker than the thread and showed when I tried to do thread first.

After I had my flowers finished, I added my frames and photo. I kept the embellishing minimal to focus on the beautiful flowers. I forgot how much I love to sew cut files! Thank you for joining me today, I hope you feel inspired to do some stitching!

Love This

Hello friends!  Candace here with you today to share a fun new layout I created with the newest cut & fold file, Cheeky Chevron.  I love cut & fold files!  So fun to let pops of color to peek out from behind a fun cut file!  You can check out this file in the shop here.

Here is a look at the final layout.  To back the cut file I used the new collection from Bella Blvd, Alex.  With this fun new collection and the cool angles of the file it paired together to make a great boy layout!

I layered the Cheeky Chevron file on top of a fun patterned paper from the Alex collection.  I stitched down the file around the photo to add a little interest around the photo.  I left the other folds open to add dimension to the layout.  I love the look the the little flaps around the layout.

I embellished around the photo with ephemera and stickers and finished it off with a big bold title.

I decided to add a few little ink splatters to the edges of the layout.

Such a fun layout!  I just love it when layouts come together seamlessly!  It is easy when the products are so inspiring!

Live Simply

Fall is my absolute favorite season and I am so excited about the recently released Leaf Pile background cut file from The Cut Shoppe!

For this project, I paired the Pinkfresh Indigo Hills collection with a photo from my backyard that I printed in black and white.

Because I was using a black and white photo, I decided to use a muted background while keeping the cut file mostly white. The Pinkfresh paper is very thick and cuts nicely; however, be sure to set your blade at about a 5 to cut all the way through.

I started by backing my photo with yellow paper for a pop of color and followed that with various die cuts and stickers.

Next, I cut the sentiments using a font in my word processing program and attached them with machine stitching.

I followed that with a few more embellishments to finish it all off.

The completed layout is understated in terms of the color palette, but packs a punch thanks to that fabulous Leaf Pile 12x12 background cut file.

Thank you for visiting today, I hope you have been inspired to create!

Selfie time

Hi there! It's Flóra back today on The Cut Shoppe blog. My latest layout was made with the awesome Washi Love cut file set. Zinia's beautiful project really inspired me to try this cut file.

First I cut out the washi stipes from different papers. I used monochrome and patterned papers as well. My idea was to create a backround from the colorful stripes, so I made an order. It was important to placed the vivid colors in the middle, so they guide the eyes to the photo.

I made a shaker pocket and filled up it with the tiny cut out pieces. The shaker pocket idea on a scrapbook layout comes from Suse Fish. I think it's so clever, I have long wanted to try. I backed the transparent packet with a piece of vellum, so it can pop out from the busy background.

Then I created my title and embellished my project. This time I also used stamped sentiments to complete my page.

That is it for today. Sure, I will use again and again the Washi Love cut file, as it's so cool. My favourite is the one with hearts. I can imagine it could be super cool in a real washi size. :-) Visit The Cut Shoppe Etsy store for more awesomeness.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

Goodbye Summer Hello Fall

Those are some of my favorite words, even though Fall can be short lived around here.  So we take what we can get!!  I love to photograph pumpkins during the fall season...one, because they are the perfect fall icon and two, they are my favorite color.  I couldn't wait to use some of the new fall cut file sets, so for this layout I went with the Oakley Avenue cut file and the Hello Fall cut file.

I've still been hoarding the Cedar Lane collection from Pink Paislee since last year.  It is a gorgeous fall collection, and I wanted to use a mix of the patterned papers.  I enlarged the Pie Chart shape from the Oakley Avenue cut file set and backed it with a mix of papers from the 6x6 paper pad.  Then I cut the Goodbye Summer Hello Fall title from the dark wood grain paper to contrast against the lighter colors.

I balanced the layout, by adding my photo to the right side of the pie chart shape and a cluster of fussy cut flowers on the left.  I also wanted some pops of color around the outside edge of the circle, so I fussy cut all of the little leaf shapes and placed them around the circle.

The Oakley Avenue cut file set and the Hello Fall cut file set are now available in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store, along with the Leaf Pile background cut file.  And, if you're wondering, the Oakley Avenue cut file set coordinates with the Oakley Avenue collection I am releasing with Pretty Little Studio!  Pre-orders are shipping between September 21-October 4th and the collection will be available to retail customers on October 5th!  Visit the Pretty Little Studio shop to check it out!
