Extra Ordinary | Kylie Kingham.

Hi friends! It's Kylie back with you all today to share a new layout for The Cut Shoppe I have been working on. I fell in love with the 'Extra Ordinary' cut file from the store and couldn't resist using it for a male themed layout. I have worked with the Kaisercraft 'Workshop' collection which was a perfect match for my theme.

I decided to work on a white background for my layout but did add a lovely navy toned border. Using my sewing machine I added a stitched border which gave a lovely texture to the edge. With a stamp from my craft stash I have also added some 'paint stripes' to my background with a denim blue ink.

Once I had cut out my cut file, I used several papers to back it. I chose a dark steel grey paper to back the title so that it really stood out from my background.

Once I completed backing my cut file I added some foam adhesive to the back of it before adhering in place. This was so it sits up from the background of my layout for height and dimension. With my photos in place I also added a few die cuts from the 'Workshop' collection.

To finish I also added a small sub title phrase to the lower right hand side. This also gave a nice finishing balance to my layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest design.

Hello Summer

Hello Crafty Friends!

Nathalie here, today, I am back with a new layout showcasing the Cloud Nine,  April Showers, Let's Talk Summer cut files, and the super cute Ain't Life Grand collection, by Ashley Horton.

I have had this picture of my little  in the scrap folder for a while, once the Cloud Nine cut file was available, I knew it would be perfect for what i had in mind.

For this layout, I picked the 8.5x11 format of the Cloud Nine cut file. The empty cloud cut outs were backed with papers from the new collection, "Ain't Life Grand" by Ashley Horton for Pretty Little Studio, and some white polka dot vellum paper.

A bit of  dimensional adhesive was perfect to create that lovely shadow on the page.  The background paper was created using distress ink and a blending sponge. I simply worked from the center to the outside, just a bit wider than the cut out.

Aren't the patterns of the papers just beautiful!.   I tried to find all the papers that had some pink in them, so that they did not blend with the background.

Finally the title was created by using the Hello cloud image from the April Showers cut file, and the Summer word from the Let's Talk Summer cut file.   Once again, I used a combination of the papers used to back the clouds to tie in the title to the layout.  A few drops of white and black acrylic ink complete the page.

This layout took no time to come together, and  i love how it looks.   The cut files combined with the colorful "Ain't Life Grand" collection was just perfect to document this picture.

Don't forget to check all the cut files used in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store, there are so many designs available !!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey Love

Hello friends! Today I have a new layout to share with you using the Heart to Heart cut file. It was just perfect to do some hand stitching!

To create this layout, I used the sketch pen option in my Silhouette Cameo. Once I had the design drawn out, I added stitching holes. I tried to estimate about where my photos would be so I wouldn't have to stitch underneath them. Stitching takes long enough without having to do an area that will be covered up! I was inspired by the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection, and used threads that coordinated with the colors in the patterned papers. I alternated the colors, making sure to space them out when possible.

Once I had it stitched, I added watercolor. I found that the stitching helped me stay in the lines. With the lighter colors (yellow specifically), I found it better to paint first, and then stitch. The paint was darker than the thread and showed when I tried to do thread first.

After I had my flowers finished, I added my frames and photo. I kept the embellishing minimal to focus on the beautiful flowers. I forgot how much I love to sew cut files! Thank you for joining me today, I hope you feel inspired to do some stitching!

Captain

Hello there scrappy friends,

It's Zsoka here with you today to share my latest layout for The Cut Shoppe!

For today's layout I chose the Prickly Pineapples cut file because I've wanted to use it forever but still have not gotten around to do so. About a month or so ago I finally received my huge stack of supplies I had been building up at my friend's place in the US since last November and part of these items was one of my most favourite line ever, Citrus Bliss from Pink Paislee. Here in Germany it is not available anymore and when I found it on sale in the US, I had to have it! I just love citrus colors, I can never get enough of them! So obviously it was the line I had to work with first ha! And since this collection has pineapple designs in it, I thought I'd finally use this cute cut file!

There actually are two files in this set and I've used both. I just cut them in different sizes from white card stock, then did what most people do, backed them with various patterned papers from the Citrus Bliss collection. Some I put on pop dots to give the layout a bit of dimension. Then just placed them the way I liked them and layered my photos over them. I've added some wood veneer pieces, puffy stickers, chipboards, frames from the same collection together with some enamel dots and phrase stickers from the Simple Stories Sunshine&Happiness line. The clear stickers with black text might be Simple Stories Carpe Diem, but I am not quite certain, I don't have their packaging anymore...

For my title I chose Captain because in the second photo my son looked exactly like that ha! With his finger pointing to the sky, giving orders and all :). You can't really tell from these photos but the sun is kind of wrapped around his little finger like a halo, it's really cool! I've used some Dear Lizzy thickers for the title.

To finish it all off I've added some black splatters, like I almost always do!

Here, some more close-ups:

Hope you like! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! X

Hello Awesome Baby

Hello all!

I am beyond excited to have my first layout for The Cut Shoppe!   I have been a fan of Ashley's designs since the day i purchase the Let's Cut Class (to learn how to use my Cameo);  from then to now being in the design team (with all these amazing ladies) has been a blessing.  Thank you Ashley!

For this first layout, I wanted to document this little angel (I am lucky to babysit him once in a while!);  so I chose to use two cutfiles to create my background,  Around & Around  and Boys Rule.  I welded some of the pieces together, and added pocket shakers on the empty spaces of the scribbled circles  (this is my interpretation of the rattles this sweet baby loves so much).

The welded background

Next,  I chose the teal background paper from the new Sunny Side Up Digital Collection (I had the entire collection printed to fit a 11x17 in format at Staples -the largest size cardstock they had at hand-).   A large border of Crate Paper's Bloom Collection (Delighted) was machine stitched to frame the layout.  Next I added the picture, and  formed clusters around it with some cut-outs from the Sunny Side Up collection, MAMBI's Soft Spoken series chipboard stickers, and Heidi Swapp's MInc Icon collection.

The Sunny Side Up collection was perfect to document this day

The title was created using the Open Letter Alpha cut file (a personal favorite).  I used foiled vellum (Hello Love from Crate Paper's Hello Love collection, and paper 02 from MME's Necessities collection) to back the words, as they matched the color of the sequin in the shaker pockets.

Here is the final layout after a few more details were added...

I am super excited to have shared this layout with you.  Leave me a comment if you have any questions about the layout.

Don't forget to check the store THE CUT SHOPPE to find all these cut files, and many more (they are truly beautiful designs)

Till next time,  Happy Craftin'!
