Hey friends! Kelly here today with a new 12x12 layout using the Freebie Friyay Picture This Cut File.

I started in Cricut Design Space by "ungrouping" the SVG cut file. I wanted the right image on the center row to fit my 2.5"x 3.5" photo, so I enlarged and sized each section of the cut file. After I had each part of the sections sized, I welded the image together. Once it was welded, it was much larger than the 11.5" that Design Space will cut. To solve that issue, I inserted a square and sized it to 11.5". I positioned the square over the cut file image and sliced the square & cut file. This made the cut file image 11.5" without having to make the image smaller so it would still accommodate my photo. I cut the Picture This Cut File on a patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Whimsical Collection. I adhered the cut file to a piece of white cardstock. I then added my photo, embellishments to each frame, and machine stitching to each row of frames. I wanted the layout to be very clean and simple so I didn't add any mixed media or splatters.

Artistic Cat | Kelly Janes

Hey friends! Kelly here today and I have a new layout to share using the Pretty Pottery Cut File!

I started in Cricut Design Space by ungrouping the cut file and selecting 2 of the pots. I then resized and welded the pots together. I duplicated the welded image and then selected the contour feature. After the contour feature was selected, I hit the "hide all contours" icon. This turned this cut file into a solid shape so I could easily back the detailed cut file that I cut on white cardstock. [You can find a step-by-step tutorial in the process video below.]

I added hand stitching to the cut file after I had it backed with the patterned paper. I tucked my photo under one of the flowers on the cut file and went onto embellishing.

I used a lot of the Pink Paislee Paige Evans Whimsical Collection for this layout. It's all about my cat who invades my craft space every chance she gets. HA! This was the perfect layout to use all of the crafty themed embellishments from this collection!

Book Love | Kelly Janes

Hey there friends! Kelly here today to share my first layout for 2019! I've been busy working on my December Daily album so I was excited to get back to my 12x12 scrapbooking! For my layout today I'm using the Freebie Friyay With Love Cut File.

I cut the cut file on white cardstock and used the cut file to trace the center of the heart on another sheet of white cardstock. I then used an alpha stamp set to repeatedly stamp the word "Books" on the background. This layout is all about how I actually completed one of my 2018 resolutions...to read at least 24 books in a year.

I  used the same cut file to trace the heart on a sheet of patterned paper. I fussy cut the heart shape from the patterned paper and started layering all of the pieces together. I layered a sheet of vellum over the white cardstock with the stamping, I then added the patterned paper over the vellum, and finally I adhered the cut file on the top of the patterned paper.

I tucked my photo in the bottom left corner of the heart and added a couple clusters of embellishments.

Summer Flower Garden | Kelly Janes

Hey there friends! Kelly here with you today to share a new layout using the Flower Garden Cut File.

I typically will just "slice" apart a cut file as I go in Cricut Design Space, but in this instance I knew that I would use the flower portion of the Flower Garden Cut File over & over! I decided to upload this cut file twice into Design Space...Once leaving it just as it is here with the title Bloom & Grow & then a second time with only the flowers. This way all of the work will be done when I want to use just the floral portion of the cut file! [There is a step by step tutorial on how to do this included in the process video at the bottom of this post.]

I cut the cut file in white cardstock and then backed it with a light blue polka dot patterned paper. I positioned multiple summer themed embellishments to go along with my photo! This photo just screams summer with it's warm tones and the fact that we are enjoying dinner on the patio! HA!

YAY Showtime

Hey there friends! Kelly back again today to share a new 12x12 layout using The Big Screen Cut File.

I started in Cricut Design Space by slicing out the filmstrip portion of the cut file. I then unlocked the dimensions of the cut file and resized the filmstrip so my small 2x2" photos would fit behind the openings. I duplicated the filmstrips once I had them sized correctly and then cut both of the filmstrips on black cardstock.

My photos are very grainy so I converted them to black & white and printed them small to try to mask some of the poor quality. This layout is more about the story than the photos so I didn't mind that the photos weren't perfect. I positioned my photos behind three of the openings in the filmstrip and used the other remaining spots for my journaling.

Sometimes the stories that need to be told don't always have the perfect photos to go along with it. I love that the filmstrip from The Big Screen Cut File was a great way to not only get multiple photos on my layout, but it also helped mask some of the imperfections of the less than perfect quality of the photos!

Splash | Kelly Janes

Hey there friends! Kelly here with you today to share a new summer themed layout using the Make a Splash Cut File!

I cut the title, Splash, on a sheet of white cardstock that I had colored using a couple different Shimmerz Sprays & Distress Oxide Inks. I then adhered the title to another piece of white cardstock that I had painted light blue using a brayer. I also hand stitched around the title for a little more visual interest and texture. 

I had originally planned to use the painted cardstock as my background, but I just couldn't get the design to flow. So I decided to switch up the design, and cut a large sun from the Make a Splash Cut File on a piece of yellow/orange patterned paper. I adhered the sun to another sheet of white cardstock, tore the painted cardstock with the word Splash, and adhered that painted cardstock on top of the sun.

I then embellished the layout with a few summer themed stickers and die cuts from Amy Tangerine and called the layout complete!

Gallery Wall | Kelly Janes

Hey there friends! Kelly here today to share my first layout for the new Design Team term! I can't even begin to express how excited I am to continue on with The Cut Shoppe for another 6 months!

For my layout today, I used the Gallery Wall Cut File and I used almost every icon from this set. I started in Cricut Design Space by slicing apart the cut file and then resizing all of the images to fit around my 2.5 x 3.5" photos.

I didn't need a lot of embellishing because of the large images and the bright colors from the Paige Evans Pick Me Up Collection. The cut file did a lot of the embellishing for me...which I love!

Don't Grow Up | Kelly Janes

Kelly here with you today to share a new 12x12 scrapbook layout using The Everyday Essentials Cut File & The You've Been Punc'd Cut File!

I cut a couple stars and an ampersand from The Everyday Essentials & a couple of the icons from The You've Been Punc'd Cut File using 6x6 patterned papers from the Crate Paper Cool Kid Collection. The photo I'm documenting is a self portrait my son drew of himself at school. I thought the CP Cool Kid Collection set the perfect tone for this layout! I tucked the cut files right alongside all of the other die cuts & embellishments to help enhance the layout.

I love using cut files as large focal points, but it's also so fun to size them down and use them as embellishments! There are just so many possibilities when it comes to cut files!!

Valentine Mini

Hey friends! Kelly here with you today to share a new Valentine's Day themed mini album.

I'm not usually into Valentine's Day but this year I was about all things pink and heart shaped. So I thought it would be fun to create a mini album dedicated to all those things! I used my deep cut Cricut blade, a scrap piece of cardboard (the packaging that is included in orders from scrapbook.com), and the XOXO Cut File to create the cover. I used the Melody Ross Chip Art Stamps and acrylic paint to alter the cardboard to give the cover more of a Valentine look.

This mini album was the perfect excuse to use up scraps & embellishments from my stash that I've been hoarding. I also used other cut file images from the XOXO Cut File, A Banner Day Cut File and The All the Things Cut File inside the album. I didn't embellish the album until after I already had it bound, so the challenge was making it fun without making it so thick it wouldn't close. Using the cut files really helped me keep the album from getting too bulky...

...because backing cut files is a great way to add texture without making the album too chunky...

...and there isn't a need to add a lot of embellishing to the pages that have cut files, because they add a lot of visual interest all on their own.
