Now & Then

Hi everyone!

I can't believe we are already getting closer to half way through October!  When did that happen..  I have layout to share with you today featuring my family posing for a photo in Fiji - back in November 2011 and then recently when we travelled in August 2014.  It was so much fun comparing our family portraits (I was pregnant with our youngest child in the 'then' photo).  I just love that scrapbooking allows me to document stories such as these.   I have used the Peace Out 12x12 cut file to layer over my background patterned paper by Shimelle.  There are so many cool backgrounds in the shop and I love adding these as an extra layer on my layouts.

Hi everyone,

It's Michelle W here with another layout using the gorgeous September Clique kit, Study Abroad and the following two cut files.

My layout:

I have also used two cut files from The Cut Shoppe - the 'Think Less Live More" and the "Flash Cards 3x4" cut files.  I first used the 'Think Less Live More' phrase as a border strip to create visual interest down the left hand side of my layout.  I do really love using the word 'hello' on my layouts and incorporated this cut file into my title.   To do this - I cut the 3x4 flash card out with the 'hello' on it (enlarging it first) and then removed the border frame from it so I was just left with the word itself. I then misted the word with a yellow mist and outlined the word and speech bubble in black pen.

I Love What You Do

Hi everyone, Michelle W here again.  My next DT layout has two different cut files from the store.

On my layout today, I have first misted my white cardstock background in Teal using a Heidi Swapp Shine Mist to match in with my colour choices in my photo and patterned paper.  I then cut the Arrows with Attitude cut file also in white cardstock and outlined it in black pen.  I then started layering all my patterned papers and photos and embellishments.  To create another layer I then also cut some of the arrows from the Target Practice Cut file and coloured these lightly in orange and pink to again match in with the colours on my layout.

You may have noticed I love using white cardstock to cut out my Cut Shoppe cut files for several reasons, firstly I have lots of it and it is so easy and economical to use; and I like that I can add extra layering elements on my layouts without feeling like I am overwhelming my photos and embellishments.

I hope you have enjoyed my layout share today and I hope I have inspired you to start layering cut files onto your layouts.

Reach for the Stars and you will fly!

Hi

My next layout that I have to share with you, I have used one of the files from our recent blog hop called A Walk in the Clouds. Which I absolutely fell in love with and couldn't wait to use on one of my own layouts.

Often I love cut files but think how could I use it on my layout where it fits in with the overall theme or idea I am trying to portray.  In this instance, I used the clouds as a reference to the sky and my sentiment of reaching for the stars and how you can achieve amazing things if you put your mind to it.

Hope I have inspired you to think about the different ways you can use The Cut Shoppe cut files to support the particular feel or theme of your layouts!

Take care

Hi everyone!

I am happy to be sharing my next layout with you all today.

I have created my Love heart and hello title on my layout using the part of the  'Borderlines' cut file below.

Firstly, I right clicked on the file and 'released the compound path' and 'ungrouped' the file.  Once the file was ungrouped, I selected just the 'heart and one hello' word from the bottom border and then copied and pasted it.  I then enlarged this section until I was happy with the size before cutting it out.  Here it is on my layout!

This is my Happy Place

Hi everyone,

I have my second layout to share with you today!  I have actually used three different cut files on this one.  Firstly, I have used the negative images from the 'It Adds Up' cut file which are the little plus signs on my layout.  I had cut out this file for something else but I am always looking for ways in which to utilize all parts of an image that I have cut out and using the negatives are a great way of doing this.  I have also used one of the new cut files in store 'borderlines' which I just loved and is so versatile with four different borders to choose from.   Lastly, I have used the 'Stars and Stripes' cut file to create some visual interest down the left hand side of my page.   I have also added some of the same piece of the striped patterned paper behind this cut file to add some colour to these shapes.  All of my cuts I have outlined in black with my precision pen as I really wanted these shapes to 'pop' and be quite graphic.

Be You

Hi everyone,

It is Michelle here and it's my turn up on the blog today with my first Design Team layout.

I definitely had a hard time choosing which cut file to use as they are all amazing.

However, one of my favorite things to do is to create titles using cut files so I thought the cut file called Be You - "Be the you you want to be" was just a perfect sentiment that I wanted to instill in my youngest child!!

I decided to cut the file in half and add it to my layout as this creates movement and visual interest drawing you into my photo.  I really love how the white cardstock POPs on my black background.

Thank you all for joining me today!
Take care
