Somewhere Over the Rainbow | Tarrah McLean

Hi friends,

It's Tarrah back with you and today it is sadly my last post and share with you as part of The Cut Shoppe design team. :( It has been an absolute blast being on this team and using Ashley's cut files! Thank you so much for having me Ashley!

So now to my layout! I decided for my last layout that I would create something bright and fun to hopefully cheer people up with all the uncertainty and difficult times you may be going through.

I used the Over the Rainbow cut file and cut each individual piece of the rainbow using different coloured cardstocks.

Over the Rainbow

Once I had the cut file pieces all stuck down in rainbow order, it was time to add my photo and embellish! The photo is of my gorgeous niece in a pretty rainbow dress and handbag that matched! Perfect photo for this layout! I added a rainbow paper underneath the photo and placed it slightly to the right of the centre of the rainbow. To balance all the colour at the top of the rainbow, I decided to add a rainbow strip of paper down the very bottom of the page. I love how that looks!

With embellishing, I tried to embellish tone on tone where I could. The flair button was perfect in the centre of the rainbow on the blue piece as it had the same blue background. I added some pink enamel hearts in some of the heart cut outs of the cut file. I also added some phrase stickers that suited the page also.

The white fluffy hearts are a fabric embellishment made by a lady in Australia. I added a small gold heart sticker to each cloud. On the yellow piece of the cut file, I added some yellow glitter chipboard thickers from my stash and that became the beginning of the title of the page. On the right of the photo, I punched out a heart from red cardstock and layered a gold sticker heart over the top of that one too.

Thank you so much for your support using The Cut Shoppe cut files on the design team. I do hope that you all continue to support Ashley and The Cut Shoppe by purchasing her amazing cut files!

Happy creating, stay healthy and look after each other!

Boys Will Be Boys | Tarrah McLean

Hi friends,

It's Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a boy layout using the awesome Boys Will Be Boys cut file! Being the mum of 2 boys and hubby I love it when I can use one of the many awesome boy related cut files in The Cut Shoppe store!

Boys Will Be Boys

I cut the cut file design out from a grey paper and then backed each letter in the title with a different paper. Backing cut files is one of my favourite techniques and these titles are also one of my favourites too. Once it was all backed I adhered the whole piece to the lower half of a piece of white cardstock.

I adhered the photo of my sons at the top above the cut file design slightly tucked in underneath at the bottom of the photo. The reason I often add my photo to the top of a design like this is so it creates a good balance on the page. To the right of the photo I added a circular die-cut, a star and some phrase stickers.

I love to add embellishments over cut files too and this one was no exception! As you can see in the photo above, I added a flair button to the centre of the 'O' in 'Boys' and an enamel dot in the middle of the rocket that forms the 'I' in 'Will'. I also added a word sticker and an arrow die-cut.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you are inspired by my layout in some way!

Soak Up The Sun | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It's Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new Summery layout using one of the cut files from the Full Circle set!

Full Circle

I cut the cut file design from white cardstock and backed different patterned papers behind each of the triangle spaces making sure that each colour was opposite to the other one.

I used up some older Bella Blvd papers and embellishments to create my layout. I love the bright colours and Summery feel this layout has. The pie-chart design is perfect to use up scraps of paper that you don't have many of! I embellished with a tone on tone look, trying to use embellishments in the same colours as the papers.

I placed my photo right in the middle of the circle that I was able to balance the title on each side of the photo. I used craft foam under my photo to create height and dimension. I like how this allowed me to tuck embellishments into the sides of the photo like the blue fabric star from my stash!

Play | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends,

It's Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new back to school themed layout using one of the Freebie Friyay cut files called Uncharted Territory.

Uncharted Territory

I cut out the design from white textured cardstock and then chose some older coloured papers by Bella Blvd to back the cut file with. I used red on the very outside, then came in to yellow and then used the light blue/aqua colour in the centre.  Once the cut file was backed I adhered it to the centre of another piece of textured white cardstock.

I matted my photo using a star paper and adhered it slightly to the right of the design. I didn't want to cover up all the blue from backing the cut file. I added the strip of paper with the apples under my photo, I then used this as a place to adhere my acrylic title 'Play'.

I used a mixture of embellishments including a felt bow, stickers, chipboard stickers, puffy stickers, die-cuts, enamel dots and shapes, a flair button and wood veneer.  I placed the felt bow under the apple paper strip, I love that pop of yellow here. Over to the right of my photo, I placed the backpack die-cut and then layered a Back to School flair button over the top.

Sweet Summer Time | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends,

It's Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new Summer layout! Its currently very hot down here in Australia so a Summer layout it is today!

I used the Sweet Summer Time freebie cut file that was included in the June 27th 2019 newsletter.

I cut the cut file design out from white cardstock and then backed the title parts with 2 different patterned papers from the Sunny Days 6' x 8' pad. I used the pink in 'Summer' to make it stand out just a little bit more. For the spikes of the sun, I chose a yellow paper from the 6' x 8' paper pad.

Once it was all backed, I adhered it down to another piece of white cardstock. I then matted my photo with another of the 6' x 8' papers and adhered it to the bottom right of my page. I then started to embellish using chipboard pieces, die-cuts and stickers and puffy stickers.

The 'Vacay Vibes' die-cut piece was perfect underneath the 'Time' word and I just had to add the teal coloured chipboard car here too! A few of the other chipboard embellishments I added are the shell on the left, the heart at the top and the 'Sunkissed' piece right at the top too.

Dec 25 | Tarrah McLean

Merry Christmas creative friends!

It's Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new Christmas layout using the 12 Days of Christmas 'Dec 25' freebie!

The Dec 25 freebie...find all the 12 Days of Christmas cut files in the store here

I decided on a red, black and white colour palette for this layout, I am not normally a plaid person but I love how the red and black plaid looked backed in the '25'. I decided on the pretty black floral for the 'Dec'.

Once I had backed the entire cut file, I added craft foam underneath and popped it up on to the small back spot paper. I often pop up cut files from the background paper to allow for tucking in embellishments as well as layering them on top of the cut file.

I added my photo on top of the '5' and layered a black doily and one of the frames from the collection. I added some wood veneer embellishments as well as die-cuts and stickers to finish off my page. Overall this layout came together pretty quickly once I had my cut file backed and ready to go.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I do hope you have a wonderful day celebrating Christmas with your loved ones!

Jingle All The Way | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It's Tarrah McLean with you today to share a Christmas themed layout using the newsletter subscriber exclusive recent free cut file - Jingle All The Way!

The newsletter free cut file - Jingle All The Way

I chose to just use the title for my layout today, I left off the baubles. I backed each word with a different Christmas patterned paper and then added craft foam underneath the whole title and adhered it down towards the bottom of my background paper.

I chose a small photo of my boys from Christmas Day last year and changed it to black and white to co-ordinate with the colours in the collection. I added a small piece of striped patterned paper underneath my photo and also added craft foam under the photo to pop it up off the page. I then added the white tree card beside my photo and added some enamel dots to the tree!

I continued to embellish using some wood veneer pieces both layered on top of my photo and straight onto the background paper. The ampersand and Good Times together piece went perfectly right there in the centre of my title. I also added a couple of acrylic pieces like the star to the right of 'Jingle' and the present to the left of 'Jingle'.

If you aren't a subscriber to The Cut Shoppe newsletter, you need to be because otherwise you will miss out on some awesome free cut files only available to newsletter subscribers! I hope you enjoyed my layout today!

Summer Is Coming | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It's Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new Summer themed layout featuring the awesome 'Summer Is Coming' cut file. Its getting pretty hot down here in Australia and we are never short of Summer photos to scrapbook, all the Summer themed cut files are perfect to document our Summer!

Summer Is Coming

I started out by cutting the cut file design from white cardstock, I then chose lots of the fun papers from the 6'x 8'paper pad from the Sunny Days collection. to back behind each letter in the title. I love how all the colours and patterns look together! Once the letters were all backed, I used craft foam underneath to pop it up off the pink background patterned paper. I placed it down the bottom of the page so that I was able to add my photo and some embellishments at the top.

I layered a few die-cuts underneath my photo and just had to add that super cute girl transparent die-cut piece to the left of the photo too. On the right of the photo, the Sun Shine Sun die-cut was perfect to add, I like the pop of yellow. I added one of the blue puffy hearts to this piece as well.  I also added some embellishments overlapping the cut file to bring some more interest to the design.

I hope my layout had inspired you in some way today? Don't forget to check out The Cut Shoppe for all your cut file designs!

See you next time!
