 Hello! Erica here with you today to share a spring layout using the new Floral Wreath cut file!

I started with some American Crafts smooth white cardstock to cut my file. I pulled out the Photoplay Paper Bloom collection and started to back the Floral Wreath. I love the pretty colors in this collection. 

 I tried to use a pattern paper for my background but in the end I used a white piece of cardstock...shocking I know! I added foam behind the cut file to pop it up and give it a little dimension. I added some embellishments to the center of all the flowers. I used enamel dots and stickers from the collection and some die cuts from my stash. 

I also used a couple new epoxy flair from Scrappin Happy Studio that went well with the Bloom collection. Here is a look at my final layout! You can check out my YouTube channel for the process video HERE!

New Cut Files | Fall Feels

It's getting about that time...time to start working on Thanksgiving and Christmas projects, but for today, I'm still holding on to Fall!  We've got some NEW Cut File designs available today, that are perfect for getting started on your Thanksgiving projects, but I used the Pumpkin Pie cut file to create a Fall themed layout.

I wanted to use the Fall Breeze collection from Photo Play Paper, with a mix of Simple Stories Forever Fall.  When I thought about how I wanted to use the cut file, I decided on two different ways.  The first idea, was to place 2x12 patterned paper strips on my Silhouette Cameo mat and cut out a solid shape of the Pumpkin Pie cut file.  Then I transferred all of the strips, in order, to a White card stock background.  Once I had all of the strips in place, I machine stitched around the shape of the pumpkin for extra texture.

Then I cut the Pumpkin Pie cut file from a piece of Kraft card stock.  I wanted to back the open spaces of the cut file, but decided not to fill in every space.  Since I had so much patterned paper with the strips, I didn't want the cut file to get lost, by completely backing the whole design with the same patterned papers.  I like the way the cut file stands out, with some spaces filled in and others letting the White card stock show through.  Once I had some of the spaces backed, I placed craft foam behind them, to pop the cut file off the page.

I placed my photo (of my adorable baby cousin!!) in the center of the cut file.  I knew this would help draw the eye to the photo, with it being front and center.  Then I used a mix of embellishments from the Fall Breeze collection and the Forever Fall collection around the photo.  I wanted clusters on both sides to create balance on the layout.  I finished the layout with a simple title, using Kraft Thickers from one of my older Crate Paper collections.

Trick or Treat | Erica Thompson

Hey crafty friends!  Erica back with you to share another Halloween layout! Halloween has always been my favorite time of year! We love to deck out the house, watch scary movies and October 31st can never come soon enough! As soon as the kids get home from school on Halloween we get into costume and get things ready for the night! I love to take the kids out and get their photos taken with their costumes! I know one day they are going to love to look back and see what they dressed up for as kids!  Today I used the Trick or Treat cut file from The Cut Shoppe!  You can find it HERE!

I used the Photoplay Paper collection Trick or Treat!  I cut the file out with American Crafts black cardstock. I love how the colors pop against the black paper! The photos are from last Halloween when we had a superhero theme for our costumes! All 6 of the kids dressed up last year and it was kinda sad because I knew it would probably be the last time my oldest son Drake would dress. He was 18 last year and a good sport and dressed as the Joker! This file was so fun to back and pretty simple! I used a piece of smooth white American Crafts cardstock as my base. I wanted to add some splatters to the page just to add a little bit of some interest. I pulled out some stamp pads from Catherine Pooler that matched perfectly with the Trick or Treat collection. Grape Crush, Orange Twist and Lime Rickey! I love the Catherine Pooler inks so much. The colors are amazing and love how bright they stay when you let them dry on the page.

I decided I wanted to cut my photo out in a circle and place it in the letter O of the word Or.  I love how it turned out! 

I added foam tape to the back of the cut file to pop it up off the page.  I used the card stock stickers that come in the Trick or Treat collection pack to embellish around my layout.  I also used some black enamel dots to my layout! You can never go wrong with a few enamel dots on a project.

For my journaling I used my We R Memory Keepers typewriter to document who was under the awesome costumes and the year! Simple and to the point! I had so much fun with this cut file! Haunted Halloween | Erica Thompson

Hello Everyone!  Welcome back to The Cut Shoppe blog!  Today I have a fun layout to share using one of the new cut files called Haunted Halloween!

As soon as Ashley posted these new cut files for the design team I knew I had to cut this one!  I cut it out using some black textured cardstock and I just love how it turned out!  I backed the file using fun Halloween papers from Photoplay Paper's Trick or Treat collection!  Halloween is my absolute favorite and I think I have just about every Halloween collection every printed!  

I started with a piece of smooth white American Crafts cardstock as my base.  I added some black splatters and some purple using my Seedless Preserves Distress Ink from Tim Holtz!  The purple color was a perfect match!  

The photo I used is one from a past Halloween.  We all dressed up as a Star Wars character and we had so much fun!  We even talked my oldest sons girlfriend into dressing up and taking the littles out trick or treating!  It was so much fun and the kids loved that mom and dad dressed up!  You know I am counting down the days till this Halloween!
