shine | orange gearle

Hi!  Orange Gearle here with a layout I made using the Flower Garden cut file. Here is a look at the layout:

I cut the file with with card stock and then I  backed it with papers from Cocoa Vanilla Studios Happiness collection.

I added  couple pieces of flair from {a flair for buttons}, and some fussy cut butterflies. I also fussy cut a bunch of itsy bitsy flowers from the flower paper.

For the title I used these acrylic pieces from Elle's Studio that match this collection perfectly!

I made a video of my process, if that's something that suits your fancy!

See you again soon!  XO o.g.

happiness is a marshall mini-stack | orange gearle

Hi!  Orange Gearle here with a fun, colorful layout using the Swirly & Twirly cut file. I grabbed a bunch of different Pinkfresh Studio collections (Out and About, Everyday Musings, and Joyful Day) and mixed and matched and came up with a rainbow of color!

Here is what the Swirly & Twirly cut file looks like in the shop.

I cut it first using white card stock.  Then, in the Silhouette software, I deleted all of the middle parts, and cut the outer part of the file using the rainbow paper from Out and About. This made it super easy to back the file!

The cut file inspired me to find all the circles and add them to my layout!  I used a few different sizes of circle punches, as well as circle embellishments to add clusters of circles throughout the page.

I popped up some of the circles with craft foam, and I also added some flair from {a flair for buttons} in each of the clusters.  This helped add some fun textures and dimension. Here are a few more close ups.

I also made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thank you so much for stopping by! See you again soon! XO o.g.

Rock the Year

Hey there! It's Devra here today. I want to show you how I used one of the Traveler's Notebook cut files from the Story Teller group on a 12x12 scrapbook page. It was super easy!

One of the things I like to do with all of my scrappy supplies is to use them in ways that suit me, and that's not always as there were intended. Well, this cut file is no different. I loved the Alphabet one from the minute I saw it. I thought it would be great for a back to school page, which is what I did today. All I did was enlarge it. Yep. I didn't change the proportion or anything. Then I centered it on my page, using it as a back drop for my photos.  See? Easy! Its big, stands out and looks great!

I stuck with the school theme using some Simple Stories School Rocks collection, finishing it off with some A Flair for Buttons. I went outside the box for this one today, you should try it too!

Sunshine and Rainbows with Orange Gearle

Hi friends! Orange Gearle here with my first layout as a Cut Shoppe Design Team member! I am so excited to be here!  This is what I came up with this week.

I started with the Dainty Doily cut file. From the first time I looked at the file -- I saw rainbows! So, I set my Silhouette Cameo up to cut the holes in my card stock so I could stitch this design using rainbow colors.

Here are a couple of close-ups.

I also used the Happy Clouds cut file to add a few clouds around my photo. I backed the clouds with some Dear Lizzy papers from the Stay Colorful 6x6 paper pad.

Finally, I added my title and a few pieces of flair from the {a flair for buttons} etsy store.  I made a video of my process if that suits your fancy!

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon! XO o.g.

Salt Life

It's time to reveal our newest Cut File sets and my layout for this week!  If you know me, you know I LOVE using circles on my layouts, so I had to go with the new Full Circle cut file set this week.  I repeated one of the circle designs from the set 9 times, to create a mixed patterned paper look for my background.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/463866850/the-full-circle-cut-file-set-includes-4?ref=shop_home_active_1

I backed each of the circles with the 6x6 patterned papers from the Elle's Studio Sunny Days collection.  I always love creating this type of background, because it gives me the opportunity to use a lot of different papers from the collection I'm working with.  You could back each section with a different color too, but I chose to use just 1 or 2 patterns behind each of the circles.

Another reason I love to use circles, is because you've got a built in spot for embellishing!  The center of a circle is always a perfect spot to add wood veneers, enamel dots, Flair Buttons, etc.  I mixed in several Flair Buttons from A Flair for Buttons on my layout.  They matched the Sunny Days collection perfectly!

The Full Circle cut file set is so versatile, and I'm sure I'll use it more than once!  There are three other designs included with the set, and they will all look great, whether you're using a smaller size like I did or if you're going big on your layout!

If you're heading over to The Cut Shoppe Etsy store to pick up this set, make sure you check out our other new sets that are now available.

Go See Do at the Zoo

It's Thursday and we've got some great new cut file designs available this week in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store!  I decided to try out the Hul-La-Ba-Zoo cut file this week and use it to create a background look for my layout.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/468665995/the-hul-la-ba-zoo-cut-file-set-includes?ref=shop_home_active_3

I cut each animal from the set from White cardstock.  Then I cut a second solid shape to layer behind the cut file, from Bella Blvd. patterned papers.  I placed some of the animal shapes going off of the White cardstock background, to give it a patterned paper look.

I used the rest of the White space on the layout for embellishments.  I added several stickers from the Bella Blvd. Zoo Crew collection along with a mix of Flair Buttons from A Flair for Buttons.  I also machine stitched each of the stickers to add some texture to the layout.

There are so many fun ways to use the Hul-La-Ba-Zoo cut file set, so make sure you stop by TCS Etsy store to pick it up!  And while you're there, check out the other new cut file sets that are now available.

Fun & Awesome

Hi everyone!  It's Ashley, and I'm back this week with a layout, using our new cut file sets that are now available in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store!  I combined the And Then cut file set with the Washi Love cut file set.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/452429534/the-washi-love-cut-file-includes-6?ref=shop_home_active_6

I started with the Love Ampersand in the center of the layout, and then hand stitched three lines, that would connect it to my photos.  My photos are sized at 2 inches, and I used my punch for the circle shape, once they were printed.  Then I cut 3 circles on my Cameo from the Elle's Studio Sunny Days collection sized at 2.5 to add behind the photos.

I used embellishments from the Sunny Days collection, a flair button from A Flair for Buttons and a paper clip arrow from Freckled Fawn to create a cluster inside the die cut Ampersand.  After adding several embellishments around the photos, I cut the Washi Love cut file from a wood grain paper in the Sunny Days collection and used the strips and the inside pieces cut from the design, to scatter around the layout.

I love finding ways to mix the cut file designs from the Shop!  There are four new sets available this week, that you can mix and match on your projects!  Here's a look at all of the new designs!

Getting To Know You Blog Hop!

Hi there, and welcome to the Getting To Know You Blog Hop!  This is a fun way to get to know the 2016-2017 Design Team!  I am Ashley Horton, Owner & Designer, for The Cut Shoppe and I'm here to kick things off on TCS Blog.

How many times in a week, do you work on something scrapbook related?

I work on something scrapbook related pretty much everyday of the week, whether it's creating layouts, designing cut files for the Shop or for Hip Kit Club and ScrapbookNerd, managing social media and anything else that might pop up during the week.

What’s your favorite subject to scrapbook?

My family would have to be my favorite subject to scrapbook.  The kids appear the most on my layouts, and I love to create layouts based on everyday moments.

What is your favorite color to use on your layouts/projects? What is your least favorite color?

I LOVE to use Yellow and Orange on my layouts!  And Pink and Teal make regular appearances also.  I CANNOT use Purple, unless it's included in a Halloween collection.

Why do you like using cut files on your layouts/projects?

Cut Files are so versatile and can be customized in so many ways.  I love that I can create unique looks on my layouts by altering cut files and combining them with the products I have on hand.

What are some of your other favorite hobbies? If you were not a scrapbooker, what other hobby do you think would consume most of your time?

I love to read and cook!  If I didn't scrapbook, I think I would like to spend more time pursuing cooking endeavors.  I was always a picky eater as a kid, but I've come a long way and love to try new recipes, now as an adult.

Tell us 5 things we don’t know about you!

1.  I didn't try Mexican food, until I was in my 30's and now I love it!
2.  One of my all time favorite movies is "Always" with Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfuss.
3.  In elementary school, I came home every afternoon and watched Little House on the Prairie and ate chips & dip for a snack.
4.  If I could go on a dream trip, it would be a visit to Ireland.
5.  My most favorite animal, is the elephant!!

Now, I've got a bit of inspiration to share with you!  I created a new layout, using the Boys Rule cut file set and the Everyday Essentials cut file set, with the Outfitters collection from Pink Paislee!
