One Cut File - Three Ways | Kelly Janes

Hey there friends! Kelly here today to share THREE layouts using the Great Pumpkin Cut File!

I started with an idea to use the Great Pumpkin Cut File as a template for hand stitching, so I placed the cut file on a piece of woodgrain patterned paper and used my paper piercer to punch holes in the background. I started with a standard backstitch, but it wasn't giving me as much dimension as I was hoping. I went over the stitching a second time using a chain link stitch. I then quilled multiple pieces of orange and yellow papers for even more dimension. I added my photo and a few embellishments to finish the layout!

I then thought it would be fun to use the negative pieces from the Great Pumpkin Cut File for another layout! I used orange watercolors and Halloween stamps to create a pattern on the cut file. I also added orange machine stitching to all of the pumpkin pieces. I added foam squares and fun foam behind the pumpkin to add dimension. To finish the layout, I added a photo  and Halloween themed embellishments.

For my final layout, I decided to use the outer rim of the cut file. I added watercolor splatters and purple hand stitching around the pumpkin. I then grabbed multiple scraps of Halloween themed patterned papers and I was recently inspired by Paige Evans to pull out my border punches! I created a fun, colorful pattern within the pumpkin image. I added a couple photos, a few embellishments and a couple lines of journaling to finish this layout!

I love that I not only used the same cut file, but I used the same cut from the same cut file for all 3 of these layouts! Remember to visit The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store to check out all of the cut files!

Mug Shot! | Elsie Robinson

Hey TCS fans, Elsie here with a new layout! I think you can all agree that Autumn seems to have become the season of flavoured coffee. Pumpkin Spice Lattes are everywhere, which is actually what inspired this this layout! Even though I really don't like Pumpkin Spice Lattes... Eek! I prefer the Christmas themed Lattes ;)

But anyway, here's my layout!

I firstly started by cutting out and backing one of the new cut files in the store 'The Great Pumpkin'. I cut it into three different sizes, the biggest pumpkin was about 6 inches wide. However, the paper was cut so thin that I definitely did not have the patience to carefully take the smaller pumpkins off the mat, so I ended up completely destroying them - oops!

Although this was easily fixed, as I used the offset tool in my Silhouette software to make the pumpkins a little wider. I made sure not to increase the width of the lines too much as I like the style of thinner lines. It worked perfectly the second time around!

I also used a leaf cut file from the 'Funky Florals' set for my pumpkin leaves because I wanted larger leaves on them to contrast with the bold orange and red patterns I backed the pumpkin cut files with.

I used the coffee mugs from the 'Cuppa Joe' set, and cut three of them out so I could scatter them amongst the pumpkins! I decided not to use either of the phrases on the cups and just cut the outlines instead.

I knew this would be a busy page and my title was going to be big element so I think to have those phrases on the cups as well, would've made the page a little too chaotic!

I love the title of this page, and it comes from 'The Java Script' set. I originally just cut the title from patterned paper but it wasn't standing out enough, so I offset the title and cut that shape from white card stock and matted the patterned piece onto that, which made it stand out a lot more!

Thanks for stopping by everyone! I'll see you soon for more layouts :)

New Cut Files | Pumpkin Perfect

We've still got some fall inspiration in store for you at The Cut Shoppe!  Today, we have some new Cut File designs that are perfect for fall, Halloween and football projects!  I have this thing for pumpkins, so I really wanted to use The Great Pumpkin cut file on my layout today!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/551932678/the-great-pumpkin-cut-file-can-be-used?ref=shop_home_feat_4

I wanted to back each of the open sections of the pumpkin, and I had the perfect collection for it!  Yes, I've still been holding on to some of the Cedar Lane collection from Pink Paislee.  To date, it's one of my all-time favorite fall collections!  And since my choices were limited, backing the open spaces of the pumpkin worked out perfectly, because all of my Cedar Lane papers have already been cut into.

Once I had each section backed with patterned paper, I adhered the pumpkin to the background paper on a slight tilt.  I used a photo of an adorable pumpkin house from this past weekend's road trip to Nashville.  Then I fussy cut some of the gorgeous flowers from one of the Cedar Lane papers and placed them around the photo.

I used some Gold Thickers from Crate Paper for the title.  Then I pulled a few more Gold glitter embellishments from the Cedar Lane collection to balance out the look.  I finished the layout with a small cluster at the top left of the pumpkin, using a few more embellishments and one of the cute leaf paper clips.

You can find The Great Pumpkin cut file in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store, along with our other new designs.  Head on over and check them out!
