Hi TCS fans!

It's Tarrah McLean here and I am very excited to share my first layout with you as part of The Cut Shoppe design team! 

As soon as I saw this brand new Heart and Soul cut file, I knew I wanted to hand stitch the right hand side but have the left side cut from paper...

To achieve this in the software, I had to subtract the left part from the right, I then put the left side back onto the cutting mat in the software and cut it from this heart paper. Once that was finished I deleted that part and then put the right hand side back onto the cutting mat, using the sketch pens instead of the blade this time I set the software to sketch the lines for me onto the pink ombre paper so I had a guide for the holes to be pierced, I then chose different coloured cottons and went ahead and stitched. Once the handstitching was complete, I adhered the left hand heart cut out paper to the pink ombre paper!

I just love how the coloured stitching turned out! It was worth the few hours it took me to get it done! Once it was complete, I only really needed to add my photo, title and some embellishments and I was finished!

The photo I chose is one of me in my car, its where I seem to spend a lot of my time lately...running my boys here, there and everywhere! Hence the title of my page....Mum Life!!!

I mainly used the Paige Evans/Pink Paislee 'Oh My Heart' collection for this layout, I have lots of Paige's collections to use up so I will be sure to use some of them up for my projects for The Cut Shoppe!

Half Hearted with Sketch Pens

Hey there, Aimee here sharing how I created my background 

using the Half Hearted cut file and Sketch Pens!

 

This layout was super fun and easy to create, just a bit time consuming, but I love that I created “my own paper” using a digital cut file from The Cut Shoppe!

 

First I opened my Silhouette program and imported my cut file, traced and sized it to fit my paper.

 

I knew I wanted to “draw” the hearts; I just needed to come up with a pattern. To help me with this pattern I decided to change each heart to the color I intended it to be {using the rainbow line icom}.

Once I changed the color of the hearts, I filled them with color {using the bucket of paint icon} so I knew which hearts had been drawn, and in what color.

You can see the red “trace” line on the hearts that are to be drawn or “cut” {using the pen/rachet blade icon} this particular photo the silhouette was working on the blue hearts.

Here the final hearts are being drawn

 

Here is a photo of the hearts all drawn. You can see that they didn’t all get drawn perfectly, easy fix I just took the pens and completed the lines

 

I then stitched down the middle of each heart

I then focused on using product that complemented the hearts. This is also a really great way to use up your stash!

All Day Everyday

Hello there! I enjoy handstitching on layouts (especially during long car rides) and was really excited when Ashley taught me the technique of using a sketch pen in the Cameo to turn the cut files into patterns! I had been cutting and tracing them, so I was pretty pumped at the genius of this idea. I put it to use during my last road trip, and it turned out great!

I used the Tag, You're It cut file, and just removed the tag part in the Sillhouette Studio. The "All Day Everyday" saying was perfect for my Starbucks addiction! 

I stitched each word in colors that matched the Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy collection. The pops of green were a great match to the Starbucks logo!

I'm starting to realize that I might have a bit of a caffeine problem :)

 I hope this inspired you to use your cut files in another way! If you're feeling stuck, try using sketch pens, stitching, or modify the cut file! It's a great way to mix it up.

Santa's List

Hi there, Mary-Ann here to share my recent Christmas creation combining two of my favorite files from the shop!  In my small town, they host a festival of trees.  You have never before seen so many trees under one roof, I promise!  It is truly amazing.  Santa just happened to be there the same day as us!  Here is one of the photos I captured of my boy, intently listening and talking to Santa.   This may even be our Christmas card this year.

For the background, I chose the Winter Wishes 12x12 and my gold sketch pen.  After the sketching was complete, I deleted all of the unwanted words from the background and enlarged several of the stars for the gold and vellum stars you see scattered around my layout.  

Here is the most current wish list for Santa.

I printed "Santa's List" from The North Pole cut file and added it to the center of the frame.
