Teacher Gift with Kira

Well, it's that time of the year again.  Kids are heading back to school!  Or in the case of some, heading to school for the first time.  I have my very first kindergartner!  I can barely believe it!  Since I wanted to start this school year off right, I decided to create a little teacher appreciation gift for our first week of school.  I included some snacks, a bath bomb, a stamp set and this:

This is a super easy project to make, and requires very limited supplies.  I started with a Jillibean Soup rustic white frame.  I removed the white board from it and painted it black to give it the look of a chalkboard. 

Then I used my Cricut and some cut files from The Cut Shoppe to plan out my design.  I used the Write On Alpha for "Mrs. Pena".  I sized it to 7.5" wide so it would take up the majority of the frame's width. 

I used the pencil from the School Rules cut file below the teacher's name and sized it to about 7" wide.  I cut the cut files out from white vinyl and placed it on the black board. 

Then I replaced the frame and ta-da!  The perfect teacher's gift!

Zumba!

Happy Tuesday, Laura coming to you today with a super fun background cut in What Goes Around. I used the 8.5x11 version, cut from white card stock. I dragged sections of the cut through puddles of distress ink puddled on my splat mat, giving it this fun rainbow effect, which was perfect for this photo of a Zumba-thon I recently attended. I cut the title from the fun alpha, Write On Alpha. I love the fun feel of this alpha and the filled in centers. I thought it just added that bit of carefree fun to the page.

Happy Clouds

Hello everyone, Julie back with you again today sharing a sunny layout I made with The Happy Clouds, TheWrite On Alpha & The Happy Little Clouds cut files.

I started off by inking a sun burst onto some white cardstock before stitching over the rays & adding some yellow & gold splatters. I then backed my clouds with vellum & attached them to the page adding some wood veneer clouds as well. I water coloured my cut out alphas while they were still on the cutting mat, so much easier that way, & drew a outline around each one to help it stand out. My photo is added to the bottom right on top of a cluster of papers, some tags & a doily. I grounded the whole layout by putting some strips of paper at the bottom of the layout, sewing them down & adding the rest of my title. I finished the layout with some stamped sentiments, a flair button & some enamel hearts

There's No Place Like Home

Welcome to Thursday, and NEW Cut File day in The Cut Shoppe!  We've got a variety of new sets available in the Shop today, so make sure you check them out!  I decided to work with the Write On Alpha and create a non-Halloween themed layout, using one of our photos from Halloween.

I started my layout, by opening the Write On Alpha cut file in Silhouette Studio and tracing the entire file.  Then I Released Compound Path.  Once all of the letters were separated, I created my sentence for the background "There's No Place Like Home".  After I placed the sentence on my mat in Silhouette Studio, I enlarged the O and Z from the Write On Alpha.  Then I used the Offset tool to create a margin around the O and Z.  I moved the Offset image over the background sentences on the mat, and then highlighted over everything (all together), and went to the Modify window.  Once I was in the Modify window, I clicked Subtract, which caused the letters that were inside the O and Z to delete and create edges around the remaining letter parts.  I sent the cut job to my Cameo, and cut it from White card stock.  Then I cut the original O and Z at the original size before I added the Offset, from a patterned paper, and added it to the background, once I had placed patterned paper behind each of the sentences.
