This Is Us | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a bright new layout using the awesome NEW This Is Us cut file!

This Is Us

As soon as I saw this cut file, I knew that I was going to make the title stand out with a darker colour paper and have the background a little softer. I love the contrast of the 2 different looks I have created here. I used the Happiness collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.

I cut the cut file design from white cardstock and then also used a plain white cardstock as my background. I really like how the neutral white allows for the colours that I backed the cut file with to really pop! The rainbow paper from the Happiness collection was perfect for the backing of the hearts.

I embellished with a tone on tone effect, adding darker embellishments where the dark blue of the rainbow paper was and so on. I added some of the clear and accessory stickers plus a few pieces of ephemera from the ephemera pack to help tell the story.

Make sure you check out all the new designs now in The Cut Shoppe store plus all of your favourite ones too!

Happy Times | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends,

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a new layout with you using the gorgeous new Butterfly Wings cut file!

Butterfly Wings

As the Butterfly Wings cut file is quite a large design, I wanted to try one of the busy papers from the Cocoa Vanilla Happiness collection behind it to see how it would look. I just LOVE how that paper looks behind the white outline of the cut file.

Once I had the cut file backed, I added craft foam on the underneath side and added it to the pink background paper. I wanted the butterfly to pop up from the background paper to create shadows and dimension.

I have scrapped a photo of my niece, it was perfect to use for this layout as she looks as though she is holding out her arms to look like wings. I placed it right in the centre of the cut file because of this reason! I did matt the photo using a dark blue paper and also layered some other papers and embellishments underneath the photo. I added the butterfly die-cuts scattered around to enhance the butterfly design even more.

My title was added overlapping the photo on the left hand side and a couple of sentiments were added at the bottom of the cut file also.
Lastly some white mist and the date stamp were added.

I hope I have inspired you to check out The Cut Shoppe store for some amazing cut file designs! There is something in store for everyone!

Magic Moments | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you today to share a new layout with you using the gorgeous 'With Love' Freebie Friyay cut file. You can download this cut file for free at anytime here in the store.

The 'With Love' cut file is a great one to use up lots of scraps and bits and pieces. You can do this by backing each heart in a different paper. I firstly cut out the design with a pretty pinky coloured paper and then backed different papers behind the hearts. I love how it turned out!

With Love

Once I had all the hearts backed with the papers, I added foam tape to the underside of each heart, I wanted them to have dimension and create that shadow on the page.
Before I adhered the heart cut file down, I got out my watercolour paints and drew a rough heart shape in both pink and blue. I then added a few splats of mist in various colours around the watercolour hearts too.

Once it was dry I went ahead and stuck down the heart cut file. I tried to position it so that you could see the watercoloured hearts underneath. I layered a few embellishments under my photo and layered the title 'Magic Moments' over the top of the bottom of the photo.

I also added a few embellishments on top of the hearts to create some added interest and I love how they look. I added some wooden pieces, some chipboard stickers and some die-cuts. The glitter pieces included in the Turn the Page collection by Paige Evans were the perfect touch to add a pop of spark in a few places too!

Colorful | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a colorful and bright layout using one of the brand new cut file sets now in The Cut Shoppe store!

The Lucky Stars cut file below is a very versatile one to use for all kinds of different themed projects! You could also try cutting this out and then using the positive stars/pieces to create a fun look.
Lucky Stars

I cut The Lucky Stars cut file out from white textured cardstock and then backed the cut file with one of the super colorful papers from the Fancy Free collection by Paige Evans. I love how all the stars have different colors and I did not have to back every single star with a different paper!!! The paper I chose did all the hard work for me!

I kept the embellishing fairly simple so the photo and the stars could be featured the most! I chose a chipboard title for underneath the photo that went perfectly with the layout. I layered one of the tags from the Fancy Free collection underneath my photo and also added one of the wood tabs above the photo. I like how these embellishments draw some colour in to the photo.

The puffy stickers in this collection are also really cute, I added one of the stars and some of the crosses around the page. I tried to create a tone on tone look with the crosses. I love the cute buttons in this collection so I added one of the aqua ones to the right of my photo.

Make sure to check out The Cut Shoppe store for all the gorgeous cut file designs! There are so many gorgeous ones you definitely need in your life!

I Am | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe fans,

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a fun layout with you that uses the brand new 'All The Angles' cut file

I love creating layouts like this where it gives you the opportunity to use up some leftover papers and embellishments you may have had sitting around for a while! I loved that I had enough papers to be able to back each of the triangles in this design.
All the Angles

I cut out the cut file from white cardstock, once the triangles were all backed behind, I used washi tape to secure them as I knew I was going to add machine stitching. I absolutely LOVE machine stitching and the effect it brings to a page.

I kept the title and embellishing fairly simple, I used some stickers, wood veneer, die-cuts and some metal brad stickers to embellish. Some things I did use foam tape with for added dimension however not all needed the dimension.

I added a little bit of tone on tone embellishing as you will see in the next 2 photos, where there was a teal paper, I added the same colour embellishment to that spot and so on. My photo was adhered with foam tape and some layers added enough for dimension. I placed the photo slightly to the right of the centre to allow for embellishing.

Love Love Love | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you to share a new love themed layout in honour of Valentine's Day!

Love Struck

I used the Love and Adore collection by Simple Stories together with this cut file. I chose to cut the cut file out from the maroon paper with the small white spots and I love how it looks against the white background.
I placed my layers and photo to the left of the cut file to fill the space in front of the letter 'L's'. I then placed a heart embellishment cluster at the bottom of my photo to also fill in some more space.

I also layered some stickers over the 'O's' in the Love words in the cut file. The circle sticker I popped up with some foam dots and the hearts were placed down flat. I then also made another small cluster over on the right hand side to balance the left with the right.

There are so many gorgeous love themed cut files in The Cut Shoppe store to make your designs really shine, check them out. Ashley is always adding gorgeous new designs in the shop!

Back To School | Tarrah McLean

Hi there Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a Back to School themed layout. Down here in Australia, all the kids have just gone back to school after a long 6 week summer holiday. I always like to take my boys photos right at the start of the year when they go back!

The Back To School cut file was the perfect cut file to use on page...I love how all the fun colours from the papers look behind the title.
Back to School

One of my favourite techniques is to back cut files with patterned papers. Once I had it all backed, I added foam adhesive to the back and adhered the whole thing to the grey striped background paper. I also added foam adhesive underneath my photos so they sat at the same height as the cut file on the page.

I love how the Star Student collection from Bella Blvd compliments this cut file, I didn't have a lot of it left but managed to find papers for all the spaces and just a few embellishments was all it needed to make it eye-catching and tell the story.

I love how the foam adhesive adds the shadow and gives the page some dimension and life. I also added foam adhesive underneath the scalloped circle with the owl in the centre. I added stickers both tucked in under the cut file title and also on the top too.

There are many cut files in The Cut Shoppe store that are similar to this large title one, so why not have a look in the store and give a layout like this a try? I would love to see it!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Love You | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a dreamy layout using the Cloud Nine background cut file!

Cloud Nine

I cut the cut file from white cardstock to replicate clouds and then backed the open spaces in the clouds with a cloud patterned paper. I used the Here Comes The Sun collection by Pretty Little Studio as it was perfect to go with the Cloud Nine cut file. Its such a whimsical collection and I love those hot air balloons!

Once I had backed all the open clouds with the cloud paper, I used craft foam to pop it up off the plain white cardstock background. I added a few of the die-cut clouds to enhance the dreamy feel plus also added those super cute hot air balloon die-cuts too!

I popped up my title with foam dots and I like how it overlaps the photo, I added a few other die-cuts like the hearts plus I also added 2 flair buttons that went with the theme too. I like how the sun die-cut is peeking out from one of the clouds!

Thanks so much for stopping by The Cut Shoppe blog today! I hope I have inspired you to create a dreamy page using some cloud cut files!

Boys Will Be Boys | Tarrah McLean

Hi there Cut Shoppe friends!

It's Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a new boy themed layout using the star from the Boy Mom cut file set!

I was scrolling through some of the boy themed cut files in the amazing new store and came across the star in the Boy Mom set, I loved that it had all the pieces in that I could use different papers to back the star with.

Boy Mom

I cut the star from a cement coloured paper and then used lots of different patterned papers from a 6 x 6 paper pad to back the star segments. Once the star was all backed, I used foam tape to pop the star up off the background paper.

As the star makes quite an impact on the page, I left the other embellishing to a minimum. I added just a few chipboard and die-cut stars, some journal spots, clear stickers and also some phrase stickers.

The Boys Will Be Boys card made the perfect title right beside the photo of my sons. I also added a chipboard arrow to the top right corner of the photo. A few splatters of black mist finished off my page.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure you check out the brand new Cut Shoppe store for all your digital cut files!
