Meet Cute

Happy Sunday! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend! Kelly here today and I have another layout plus a process video to share with you! I recently came across this photo of my son from 2010 and I absolutely loved his expression so I had to scrapbook it right away!

I started by pulling the Plus Infinity Background Cut File into Cricut Design Space and sliced out individual plus signs to create a random background on a piece of 12x12 patterned paper from the Simple Stories Sunshine & Happiness Collection. I backed the cut file with a patterned paper from Amy Tangerine's Stitched Collection. Before machine stitching those pieces onto the layout I added a little mixed media peeking out from behind the cut file to help bring out the yellow in the layers behind my photo.

I scattered a few of the plus signs that were left over from the Plus Infinity Cut File around the photo and added stitching through them for added texture. I also tossed in a flair button from my stash, a Heidi Swapp chipboard & acrylic piece, and odds & ends from American Crafts. No layout is complete without a little Heidi Swapp Color Shine splatter & enamel dots!

Here's a process video showing how all of this came together!!

You can check out all of the amazing cut files by visiting The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store! Thanks for stopping by today!!

Guest Designer Mandy Melville

Today we have three gorgeous layouts to share, from our first January Guest Designer, Mandy Melville!  Mandy caught our eye, when she started tagging The Cut Shoppe, when she shared layouts using the cut files from the Shop...and we loved her work!  So we are excited to have Mandy with us today, and to see what she created!  Let's get to know a little bit more about Mandy.

I live on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales in Australia. I’ve been married to Andrew for 13 years and we have three children, Abigail (11 years), Isaac (8 years), and Eleanor (1 year). I’ve been scrapbooking for about 11 years, since my oldest was a baby, and it has become more than just a hobby, it’s my passion! I love preserving my family’s memories, and I equally love the creative outlet that scrapbooking provides! My style varies as I like to let the mood of the photos dictate the style of the layout and I like to try out different techniques, though most often on my layouts you will see layering, clustered embellishments, pretty patterned papers, and sometimes a little bit of mixed media. I also love to use my Silhouette Cameo to create titles, backgrounds and other elements for my layouts. I am very lucky to be regularly published in Scrapbooking Memories magazine (an Australian mag) and to be on some awesome design teams including D-lish Scraps, Stuck?! Sketches, Scrap the Girls, and Off the Rails Scrapbooking. I am so thrilled to have been invited to guest design for The Cut Shoppe as I love creating with their cut files!! So Fabulous

Hey, everyone!!  Kat here today!  For my last layout for The Cut Shoppe I decided to combine an old favorite with a newer file.  I ADORE the Plus Infinity background cut file and I've wanted to use it for awhile, but didn't have any good ideas.  And then we moved recently and I was forced to go through all my scrapbook stash and found some pretty glitter paper buried at the bottom of a paper pile.  I was inspired to create this bling-ed out layout about my niece:

For my title I used the This & That cut file - I think it pairs perfectly with the bling-ed out background!

And here's a close up with the light reflecting off the page so you can see just how glittery it is.  I LOVE it because it highlights my niece's personality so well - she sparkles and shines so brightly!

Here are the files I used in this layout:

I also just want to take this time to quickly thank Ashley for having me on the team for the last few months.  I had such a great time and it was such a fun opportunity!  I can't wait to see what new files she creates in the coming months!!

#Throwback Thursday | Be Happy

Happy Thursday!  I'm back today for another Throwback Thursday layout!  This week, I decided to incorporate three cut file sets onto my layout.  I wanted to use a background cut file, some type of alpha or title cut file and an icon cut file.  So I decided on Plus Infinity, Word Art and the Doodle Dandy cut file set!

I just received the awesome Heart Wood Veneer frame from Maggie Holmes last week, and knew I had to use it ASAP!  I started thinking of ways that I could use it, with a cut file background.  So I grabbed the Awesome collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio, and cut the Plus Infinity background from White cardstock.  I wanted to back each section of the heart with a different patterned paper, but also have my cut file show through.  I decided to place some of the Awesome patterned papers in the foreground of the heart and once I had those in place, I adhered the Heart frame to the already cut Plus Infinity background.  Then I backed the remaining open sections with patterned paper, to show through the cut file.  After all of my papers were in place, I trimmed off the excess White cardstock around the edges of the Heart frame.  When I got to the Word Art cut file for my title, I just traced the image in Silhouette Studio and then moved each of the letters to overlap just a bit.  Then I selected over each individual letter to make it a Compound Path and then welded the letters together.  To finish the layout, I cut arrows from the Doodle Dandy cut file set, and placed them around the outside edge of the Heart frame!

It's fun to find ways to incorporate cut files into a large element on your layout!  If you're browsing in The Cut Shoppe, pick up some cut files that you think would work great with a large shape or product on your next layout!
