Poolside | Kelly Janes

Hey friends! Kelly back today with a new layout using an exclusive cut file that was available in the most recent Cut Shoppe Newsletter.

I started by cutting the Poolside Cut File on white cardstock. I then backed the words using different 6x6 patterned papers from the Fancy Pants Poolside Collection. I added machine stitching to the wreath portion of the cut file and hand-stitching around the words to help them stand out from the background.

I started by just adding white embroidery floss, but I didn't feel like the words stood out enough. So, I added pink embroidery floss on top of the white embroidery floss. That was a lot of hand-stitching, but I love the look!

I adhered the cut file to a pink patterned paper and added a mix of embellishments from the same scrapbook collection around the edges of the cut file. I tucked a few of the embellishments under the wreath portion and on top of the cut file for added dimension!

You want to make sure that you are signed-up for The Cut Shoppe Newsletter (see the right sidebar on TCS blog). The newsletter is sent directly to your inbox twice a month. These cut files are released randomly and are only available in the newsletter! Don't miss out on the next FREE newsletter cut file, but until then you can check out all of the cut files available in the shop!

My Friend

Hello Cut Shoppe friends! Today I am sharing a project made with the Flower Power cut file from The Cut Shoppe Etsy store.

As a teacher, I have the opportunity to spend time with some pretty amazing people and these two are no exception. Last week I went with two other advisers and 20 high school students to the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) state competition for 4 days. During that time, I was able to connect with kids and forge some lasting relationships. These two happened to show me photos they had taken earlier and agreed to let me use them on a layout.

To begin the project, I used the Flower Power cut file with white card stock. With the background cut, I then backed almost all of the flowers with patterned papers from Fancy Pants Designs, Pretty Little Studio, and Pink Paislee.

I adhered the photos to the page and began embellishing using the Fancy Pants Designs Millie and June Collection.

The journaling is simple with a few strips of printed text below the pictures.

Once I got home I was able to add a bit of stitching to the centers of a few flowers for texture. The finished page is fun and captures great memories of time well spent.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you are inspired to create!!

Life Is Beautiful

Hi friends! It's Monique here sharing a 12x12 layout using some new cut files from The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store: "Instant Camera" and "Quirky Quotes". I always love using frames on my layouts, so when I saw the new Instant Camera cut files I wanted to use them straight away. The "limited edition" quote from the Quirky Quotes cut file can be used on any layout so I cut that too. Here's what I did:

And these are the cut files I used:

The collection I used is from Fancy Pants and is called "Life Is Beautiful". I just love the bright and happy colors of this collection! They were just perfect for the photos of my son and one of his friends having fun in the "Efteling", which is the most famous amusement park in The Netherlands.

Here are a few close-ups of the four Instant Camera frames. I cut them at the size 8 cm x 12 cm (which is a bit larger than 3"x 4.5") and glued a little piece of patterned paper behind the lower half of the frame. Next I also matted all of them and behind two of the frames I also added a photo. I arranged them evenly on my page and embellished them. The machine stitching and the journaling was added last.

And also a close-up of the Quirky Quotes quote I used:

This is it! Hope you like it! Thank you so much for stopping by and don't forget to have a look in The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store to check out the latest new cut files.

What Matters Most

Hello Cut Shoppe friends! Today I am sharing a layout about true friendship - something I believe all of us need.

To create this layout, I used the Bountiful Blessings cut file along with Fancy Pants Designs' Golden Days Collection. Both work perfectly with this photo of my daughter and her best friends.

I began this layout using a basic grid design - I loved the papers in the collection and wanted to use a bit of everything. Also, a grid is a great place to start if you are stuck in terms of design. For this, I cut nine 3x3 squares and then cut slightly smaller coordinating squares to place on top of each.

With the grid in place, I used the feathers from Bountiful Blessings to create "leaves" for my cluster of floral embellishments, which I placed on the left side of the photo.

Next, I stapled the "My tribe" clear overlay to the bottom-right side of the photo with my Tiny Attacher. I followed this with a bottom border sticker.

My final step was to embellish the remaining squares, which I tried to keep simple. The photo speaks so much to me that I wanted to keep the embellishments somewhat simple. I also chose not to journal because I love the photo, and again it speaks volumes about these girls' friendship without needing explanation.

Remember! There is still time to take advantage of the The Cut Shoppe's December discount. Shop the Shoppe during the month of December, use code MERRY31 at checkout, and receive a 31% discount on your entire order!

Fall in Love

Hello there friends. Today I'm back with a Fall layout featuring three different cut files: Trendy Trellis, Hello Fall and Leaf it to me. Fall is my favorite season. I love the colors, the crisp air, the fallen leaves. This picture of my kids was somewhat staged. They were playing outside and I asked them to start throwing leaves around so I could take a picture (life of a scrapbooker!!!).

I used the gorgeous Life is Beautiful collection by Fancy Pants Designs for this. I thought the colors were muted enough for a Fall layout, but I also loved incorporating the vibrant teals and greens that come in the collection.
My original idea was to just use the Trendy Trellis cut file and back the leaves with some patterned papers. Then I decided to make it part of my background, creating that white on white effect I love.

I also wanted to have a huge title on the page, so I picked the Fall in Love sentiment from the Hello Fall cut file set and enlarged it, then stitched around the edges to make it stand out more.

Next, the leaves. Creating clusters of different patterns and colors gives the layout more interest and brings the page together in a fun way.

Some wood veneers and enamel dots finished the page.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my process. Don't forget to check out these awesome cut files in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store.

Have a great day!

Hello Cut Shoppe friends! Candace here with you today to share a layout using the Everyday Essentials cut file.  This cut file truly is so versatile and can be used for many themes and styles of projects.  Here is a look at the file that you can find in the shop here.

I had so much fun stitching on my last layout using this cut file that I decided to give it another try.  This time for my title I used the "Hello There" sentiment to compliment a sweet photo of my niece.  Here is a look at the final layout.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!  Don't forget to stop by the shop to pick up some fabulous cut files and please remember to post your creations on social media so we can swoon over your creations!  Have a beautiful day!

Go Fly a Kite

When I was little, I always had so much fun flying kits with my grandpa...well, we probably spent more time getting them out of trees than actually flying, but it was still fun!  That's been a long time ago, but kites are still fun.  We grabbed some for the kids when we were at the beach earlier this year, and the new Go Fly a Kite cut file set was just what I needed to document the photos.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/449706072/the-go-fly-a-kit-cut-file-set-includes-7?ref=shop_home_active_3

I loved this set so much, I ended up using every image from it.  I cut all three kites in varying sizes and used a mix of patterned papers from the Life Is Beautiful collection from Fancy Pants.  And I couldn't have found a more perfect title for the layout, than Go Fly a Kite, so I cut it from one of the Fancy Pants patterned papers.

I wanted a little bit more color in the background of the layout, since I used a White cardstock base, so I sprinkled on three different Color Shine colors.  Then I cut the cloud designs from the Go Fly a Kite set and clustered them on the layout.  I finished the layout with a mix of embellishments from the Life Is Beautiful collection.  But I loved that most of the layout was created with nothing more than the cut files and patterned paper!

The Go Fly a Kite cut file set is now available in The Cut Shoppe Etsy store along with two other new designs!  Make sure you stop by the shop to check them out!!

I'll share more on that, after a look at what I created for the Summer theme, using coffee, tea &/or cocoa images.

There's noting better than a cold glass of Sweet Tea on a hot summer day!  I used the Fancy Pants Attwell collection to document my photo of a glass of Peach Mango iced tea.  It was so good!!  The mix of colors from this collection are perfect for summer themed projects and I used a mix of the patterned papers from the 6x6 paper pad to back the Right On Target cut file from The Cut Shoppe Etsy store.

I also used the Open Letter Alpha cut file to create a large title for the layout.  I welded the letters together for the title, Tea Time, backed the letters with patterned paper and adhered them to the layout on an angle.  I finished the layout by adding a mix of embellishments from the Attwell collection around the Right On Target cut file.
