Guest Designer Mandy Melville

Today we have three gorgeous layouts to share, from our first January Guest Designer, Mandy Melville!  Mandy caught our eye, when she started tagging The Cut Shoppe, when she shared layouts using the cut files from the Shop...and we loved her work!  So we are excited to have Mandy with us today, and to see what she created!  Let's get to know a little bit more about Mandy.

I live on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales in Australia. I’ve been married to Andrew for 13 years and we have three children, Abigail (11 years), Isaac (8 years), and Eleanor (1 year). I’ve been scrapbooking for about 11 years, since my oldest was a baby, and it has become more than just a hobby, it’s my passion! I love preserving my family’s memories, and I equally love the creative outlet that scrapbooking provides! My style varies as I like to let the mood of the photos dictate the style of the layout and I like to try out different techniques, though most often on my layouts you will see layering, clustered embellishments, pretty patterned papers, and sometimes a little bit of mixed media. I also love to use my Silhouette Cameo to create titles, backgrounds and other elements for my layouts. I am very lucky to be regularly published in Scrapbooking Memories magazine (an Australian mag) and to be on some awesome design teams including D-lish Scraps, Stuck?! Sketches, Scrap the Girls, and Off the Rails Scrapbooking. I am so thrilled to have been invited to guest design for The Cut Shoppe as I love creating with their cut files!! Seriously Smoochy!

Happy Sunday, Friends!
Stephanie here!
Today I'm sharing with you my layout I did using part of the Moody Blues cut file.

A little backstory with this . . .  one of the field trips I took with my son's 4th grade class this year was to the Northeast Iowa Community College Diary. Here they have a fully operational dairy farm that the kids get to tour. They learn about the digestive system of the cow, how to make homemade ice cream, the dairy industry, as well as loads of other information.  It was actually very interesting and the kids had a great time! My son and I were using every chance we had for photo ops. This was definitely one of my favorite photographs from the day!

You can get this cut file along with ALL of Ashley's cut files over at The Cut Shoppe on Etsy! Be sure and check out the blog as well for tons of inspiration from the design team!

Thanks for stopping by!

Seriously...

Hi everyone!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

It's Tarrah back with you again today to share a fun layout I created!

Last year I went to a scrapbooking retreat and one of the nights was an 80's dress up night, it was SO much fun and SOOO funny to see everyone dressed up!! I have had this photo printed for a while to scrap but I just couldn't think what I wanted to do with it so when I saw the 'Seriously' title from the 'Moody Blues' cut file set I knew it would suit my layout theme!
I love that I can use The Cut Shoppe cut files non traditionally meaning that this one in particular is obviously a weather themed set but I have used it for a totally different themed layout!
I have used some lovely Pinkfresh Studio 'Up in the Clouds' products teamed with the cut file title to create my layout...I wanted the title to stand out a little bit so I popped one of the ephemera pieces behind the 'O' letter..
Thanks so much for joining me on The Cut Shoppe blog today...check out all the awesome cut files available in store now at The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store!

See you later..

Pretty Much Perfect

Hi! It's Heather here today, and I'm excited to share with you a new layout that I created with some new cut files from The Cut Shoppe!

Originally I was planning on backing the "Geometric Graffiti" cut file with patterned papers because I just LOVE this triangle-filled background cut. And patterned paper. I LOVE patterned paper. ;) So I did that. And WHEW! First of all, that took a while. And also I didn't like it. Then I added some machine stitching to it, along with some paint and gesso. I should not have done that. LOL I hated it even more with each addition.

So I decided to scratch that idea and recut the cut file and try another idea. Previously, I have used cut files as stencils and painted inside the shapes. I did that with this "Geometric Graffiti" background using some pink watercolors. Boo hoo. I didn't like that either. I especially didn't like the way it crinkled the paper!

I ended up leaving the page on my desk for a day or so so I could think of another way to salvage the layout. It ended up that try #3 I liked (finally)! Instead of using the entire diecut background, I used the triangles cut out by the background (they are super cool on their own!). I watercolored them different shades of turquoise and placed them in a messy column on the left side of my page. I even salvaged the chalkboard word strips from try #2 and used them on my final page.

I also used the cloud cut in the "Moody Blues" set to make the white clouds on one of the squares in the grid. I think those clouds are so funky and perfect!

Guess that just goes to show that the saying, "Try, try, and try again" is true. I finally came up with a layout that I like after three attempts!

Seriously Cute

Hello, it's Cara here today!  Today is my Silhouette's first birthday! and to celebrate, I put it to good use!  It was roaring and whirring away to cut out these fun cuts files.

I used 'Seriously' from the Moodly Blues cutfile, backing each letter with patterned paper or a photo.

The Moody Blues cut file includes 6 icons, that can be used on your scrapbooking and papercrafting projects.

Then, I took the 'cute' from the Candy Hearts cut file.

The Candy Hearts cut file consists of 4 heart shapes with phrases, that can be used on your scrapbooking and papercrafting projects.

Have a fab day!
