"New turtle species" with Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It's Anna here with another project created with The Cut Shoppe cut files. To be honest I always have a problem creating with TCS files because there are so many so fantastic ones and I can't decide what to use. I spend hour jumping through the files trying to decide if it's the right one. This layout wasn't an exception... I had this fun picture of my daughter wearing a turtle shell and wanted to make some light and simple layout with it.

Finally, after many deep thoughts, I picked "Get to the point" background cut file and used white cardstock to cut it. I backed it with some patterned paper and sewed around.

I glued the picture in the spot where all the arrows pointed. It's a great design to highlight only one picture. I embellished area around the photo but I didn't want to cover too much of a background.

My title is a combination of alpha stickers and a cut out. Word "turtle" was created with the "All caps alpha" file and painted with watercolors.

I like creating those light and fun designs and cut files are the perfect way to spread your stash and make unique pages.

That's all for today. Thank you for stopping by and see you in November.

#Throwback Thursday | You + Me

When I'm working on a layout, I typically make my cut files a big focal point.  But since it's #TBT today, I thought I would do something a bit different.  I used the cut files in a more subtle way, because of the background technique, which was inspired by one of Paige Evans' layouts created for Big Picture Classes.  I used one of the leaves from the Feeling Fallish cut file set and the arrow from the Get to the Point background cut file.

I cut the leaf from the Pink Paislee wood grain paper, tucked it behind the photo and layered over it with a few embellishments.  And the arrows from the Get to the Point background cut file were perfect with the paper pieced background.

There are so many ways to use the cut files from The Cut Shoppe, whether you're going big and bold or subtle and understated!  Stop by the shop to find just the right cut files for your projects!

Get To The Point-Yum-O!

Hi friends!  Candace here to share with you a super fun layout using the Get To The Point cut file.

I looooove this cut file!  When I saw this cut file I knew the exact photo that I needed to use.  I recently took this photo of my little guy eating a snow cone.  I couldn't get over his cute little tongue!  So cute!! LOL!  I paired the cut file with papers from the Amy Tangerine Finder's Keepers collection that matched the photo perfectly.  I also used some embellishments from the Let's Eat collection from Elle's Studio.  Here is a look at the final layout.

And a few close ups...

I have also included a process video of this fun layout!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Remember to stop by on Thursday for our Halloween blog hop!  There will be giveaways and fun inspiration!  Have a beautiful day!

Dance!

Hi, it's Laura today. As soon as I saw the Get To The Point file, I knew I needed to make a shirt for Zumba!  I used the 8.5x11 cut,  in the Silhouette software. I love how all the arrows point into a perfect little circle. I used that space to add the word "Dance!"

I opened Get To The Point in my software, sizing it to the desired size. I then used the text tool to add "Dance!" and chose a font that had a feeling of fun about it and placed it in the circular space the arrow create.

After lining up the word just the way I liked, I grouped everything together by using the group icon in the bottom left of the program, then flipped it horizontally. I usually do this by right clicking and choosing the flip horizontal in the dropdown menu that appears. This step is super important or you will have a backwards design, which is ok if you desire people to be able to read your shirt in their rearview mirror. Not saying my dancing is bad or anything... I digress.

After making the cut, I weeded out all the vinyl I didn't need, leaving just the arrows and "Dance!" left on the plastic. I laid out my shirt, as centered as I could on my ironing board. I use a cloth napkin, over the plastic, to keep from melting it. Follow the directions for adhering your vinyl. I usually iron until it doesn't pull up and I can easily pull off the clear plastic, ironing again to really get a good stick.

Here is my shirt, already to go! I got to wear it for my first day of teaching a Zumba class!

Be sure to stop by the shop today and find the perfect cut for your next project.

Simple Stories & The Cut Shoppe Product Swap Day 2

Hi, Laura here with my first post as part of this awesome team. I'm excited to share in the swap with Simple Stories! I am using the We Are Family collection. There are so many cute pieces!

First I cut out Get To The Point, in 8.5x11, from white paper. I layered over B side of Dreaming Big from the We Are Family collection. I used pop dots to lift the up and create the shadows. All arrows point to this photo of hubby and I. I framed it in one of the frames included in the collection, just cut out the inside and placed my photo behind.

The bottom of the layout is one of the 4x12 elements that came with perfect journaling strips, making this layout super fast and easy. I love the hearts on the right too. I simply added a few more embellishments, from the Bits and Pieces kit (and my stash), and was finished.

Be sure to head over to the shop and pick up some fun files to use on your next project and we have a little coupon to help you out!

Comment all this week on The Cut Shoppe Blog for the chance to win a Pumpkin Spice collection kit from Simple Stories!  And you can comment on the Simple Stories Blog for the chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate to The Cut Shoppe!  One random winner will be selected from the week's comments and announced on the Blog on Tuesday, September 15th.

Back To School

Hello! It's Jennifer and I'm so excited to have my first post as a member of The Cut Shoppe design team!  Since it is back to school time for most kids, I wanted to do a layout using a photo from my son's open house.  I used the 8.5 x 11 Get To The Point as my background as well as one of the cute titles from School Rules

I cut directly into my white cardstock using Get To The Point. I then used different patterns from the collection and adhered to the back of my page.  I love how this gives my layout a lot of color without being too overwhelming!

Here is a close up of a group of arrows!

I love the stars in the center of each of the O's!

Thank you for stopping by today!  Please check out The Cut Shoppe for these and many more fun cut files! Have a great day!

Bon Apetit!

Hi Everyone,

It's Gina here today to share a new layout with you using the Get To The Point 12x12 cut file!

To create my layout, I cut the background out of white cardstock paper.  I then placed the yellow patterned paper behind it.  I printed a small instagram photo and layered it on top of tabs and tags.  I splattered black ink across the page and then embellished with lots of bits and pieces.

Supplies: Elle's Studio: Let's Eat Collection: Patterned paper, bits and pieces, cutouts, tags, wood veneers; American Crafts: White cardstock; Studio Calico: Mister Huey's Inky Black; The Cut Shoppe: Get To The Point 12x12 cut file

Thanks for stopping by today, enjoy your day!

Under the Bridge

It's all about arrows and rainbow colors on my layout today!  I used the new Get to the Point cut file set, with acrylic paint and the Finders Keepers collection from Amy Tangerine.  I thought it would be fun to use one of the patterned papers from the Finders Keepers collection and match it with the acrylic paints, painted behind the cut file.  Here's how it turned out!

I layered the graph patterned paper over the painted cardstock, so the paint colors would show through the arrows.  Once my photo and title were in place, I added several embellishments to the coordinating rainbow colors.

I created a new Process Video to go along with today's layout, if you would like to see how I put everything together!

And make sure you visit The Cut Shoppe today and check out the new Get to the Point cut file, available in 8.5x11 and 12x12 size, as well as these awesome other sets that are now availalbe!
